Selling Online

I have a watch that sells for A LOT more on eBay than it does here on TRF. That makes sense since there is a more discerning crowd on here and eBay you have the fees for them and PayPal. Even after all that I could walk away with $1000 more on eBay.

Wondering if any of you have sold much on eBay. Also I have heard that with PayPal you can ship the item, the buyer can say they never got it and PayPal can take their money back. As a seller on eBay is that a real fear?

Are there other sites that are good for selling a Rolex?

TIA

$1,000 difference wow...

Paypal favors the buyer, yes, someone could scam you and say the watch is fake (buy putting a fake on in your box), the box was empty, etc.

It's one advantage of picking your buyer from a watch forum like this. You can see a persons reputation, participation level on the forum, etc. Paypal is great if theirs mutual trust and respect.

With that said, I have sold many, many things on eBay without an issue but they were all under $300 in value.

I've sold race cars, race trailers as well as Rolex on eBay since 2005. There is always a greater risk there - but "buy it now" asking prices are not same as completed deal prices.

Auctions reap the actual market value which is lower. And one needs a 100% selling track record to fetch the best bids.

If you already have 200+ deals over $1000 over many years then you'll do ok. But there's more value in knowing your buyer on TRF in my book - so for the past 2 years I've focused on TRF FS listing.

That's good info, thanks.

I am actually looking at completed sales for my prices. There are other asking much more but haven't sold.

I have 100% feedback on eBay over 15+ years but most of my transactions are purchases <$500

Good deal
Another option might be to consign an eBay listing through a trusted TRF seller (who also sells there) for a small split of the profit..
