Vintage Steel Oversize Longines Calatrava

This is an opportunity to own one of the finest and rarest oversize Longines Calatravas ever made. At 38mm excluding the crown, with a similar case design to the Patek 570 (only this one is much larger) this is one of the greatest vintage time only steel watches out there. Incredibly thick and still unpolished case gives this watch has a commanding presence on the wrist to say the least. The center seconds configuration is much rarer than the more common sub-seconds variety. Little doubt there are only a small handful of these in the world. The watch is all original, including original crown, dial, hands, the works. Untouched specimen, recently professionally serviced and keeping great time. This watch was acquired from Andrew Shear of Sheartime, so its authenticity is not in question. The high resolution pics tell the story, so you can see this incredible piece of horological history, which, despite minor spotting on the glorious dial, remains in amazing condition. I believe this watch is from 1940. The only other one I've seen like it was photographed by Longines expert John Goldberger and he referred to it as a reference 21219. With its superior size, originality, condition, amazing dial with inserted metal hour markers, Arabic numbers and super-cool minute track, and beautiful blued steel hands and rare center seconds configuration, this watch is as deserving of the title "King of Calatravas" as any. As vintage steel Longines continue to get hotter and hotter, it's a great wearable watch to own. You may never get another chance.
