Old warranty card with newer watch

Hey guys,
I'm in the process of acquiring a used sd4k from a seller here. I was researching the warranty prior to purchase and saw that watches purchased after the middle of last year had the new 5 year warranty. So when I found one that I was told was stamped October 2015, I went for it.

The problem I have is the warranty card is the old style. Just about every sdc I see for sale has the new card. There are some old cards out there, but it seems all were sold originally in 2014.

I then see these threads here about ADs having to swap their old cards for new ones early to mid last year and going to the swipe system. Which makes sense with the new warranty roll out perhaps. However, it makes me wonder, why does mine have an old card stamped late last year? Will Rolex honor it? Will I still have the remaining 5 year balance? Anyone else buy after July last year and get the old card? Thanks for the input

Not sure, it arrives tomorrow and I will check. I did read about the switch to green with new warranty. One would think they'd have the new cards and the green tags.

Only thing I can think is maybe was an AD who gave up AD status and never got updated materials, meaning no warranty. Of course, that's me freaking because I just spent a fortune.

We had a case a few months ago when the date on the card was changed. The green tag doesn't guarantee anything really because anyone could add one, but a red tag was one of the tell-tale signs in this instance: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=466213

Wow, had not seen that one. In this case, I guess they'd maybe have had to turn 2014 into 2015, which may be tough. I'm gonna call Rolex today and see what they say about ADs using the old card with new warranty.

The seller is willing to swap it with another that has the newer card so I may go that route to put my mind at ease.

I bought my BLNR just two months ago and it has the old style card as well as the old style card holder - Green Tag, White Tag straight from an Authorized Dealer. The watch had been delivered to them three days before I picked it up.

You're good to go.

OK then, here's hoping I get a green tag and a AD on the card that's still in business!

The only other thing bugging me is I was also offered a new one that's available, but it's $500 more. Is it worth it to swap up and pay $500 to take the stickers off?

Only you can answer how much it is worth to take the stickers off. Everyone is different. There was a recent Thread about the value of the stickers. However each person values things values differently.

To me, stickers are worth zero dollars and zero cents - BUT if you want to be 100% happy with your purchase and I am a true believer that everyone must be happy with the stuff they purchase, source the newer card with all tags and goodies.

I personally don't sweat those small details. I have a Submariner with Milgauss paperwork and wrong size boxes all around.

Yea, I really don't care for the stickers, which is why I bought the used one in the first place. Having a true full set is nice I guess, but I know once I peel the stickers off, I just lost $500.

The watch is not that old to begin with, I'm more concerned with making sure my warranty is good to go. I called RSC and rep in Dallas didn't seem to even know there were different cards out there. She said they just service based on date and to call the dealer for card specifics because she didn't know. So not sure if that's good or bad, ha

Well I hate to say it, but I think I'm going to send it back. Maybe I'm crazy, but the watch has the old card, old box style, red cosc tag, and when I called the AD to check the sale date and confirm they were late to switch the cards, they didn't have record of an October sale of a 116600. Now this was a basic search while on the phone, and the owner of the store is going to get back to me. My guess is that it may have been bought prior to October and all the changes and the date written in later. RSC may never care, but I don't want to risk it.

Too many red flags for me. For $500 more and 100% confidence, I'd go that route!

It's a shame that we keep seeing situations where there is integrity to question. I know that in this situation we don't have all the details and can not pass judgement. But still sad to even have to wonder...

Well I must say the seller has been good to me and is taking it back. I can't blame him, it would be a ton of work to verify every watch to the extent I've taken it. But this one definitely had too many red flags for me. There is another used coming in, we'll see what that has and swap for that if it looks good, or maybe I'll pony up for new and piece of mind at this point.
