Do you need the date in your Rolex?

I have never worn a daily watch with no date. I am accustomed over to glance at my watch to check the date. Has anyone had issues when purchasing a no date watch or do you simply stay away from them, Explorer 1, Daytona, Milgauss, etc?

No not at all, I love my Daytona and a watch is primarily for telling the time, not the date

One needs to know the date to be admitted into a retirement home. It's a test of one's mental ability. All my watches have the date, just in case.

No one needs the date in the smartphone era, but the cyclops is what makes a Rolex a Rolex so it's a must-have.

I'm a fan of the date complication. And the GMT complication also to track international time (family overseas).

I have always had a watch with a date and did wonder whether I could manage without it. However the Daytona was on my wanted list for so long I just had to have it, I have not had a problem with not needing to see the date when I wear it.

I like to have the date but if its an evening dress watch its not nesessary as i do not need to know the date while relaxing. The datonya and no date submariner can have a date on them if you really want it. Start the Daytona chrOno and stop it at the date ....or set the timing bezel to the current date for the 114060

I do. People say all the time "look at your phone", well, I have to dig the phone out of my pocket and unlock it....OR look at my wrist.

My job requires I know the date at all times. I have tried non-date watches and they just sit

YMMV

I would prefer the date too. I just bought my first Rolex (daytona) and still find the need to keep looking for one with a date. I know you can look at your phone for the date but you can also look at your phone for the time.

been loving the no date look lately, but when it comes down to it and people are asking what the date is, i have looked at my wrist and said oops different watch to day, no date on it.

I need date function. I frequently look at my watch for date and the fact that my speedy does not have date function annoys me sometimes. This is the only reason Daytona is not candidate for my 3rd watch.

I can do watches with or without date but I do love the cyclops so for a Rolex I'd go with the date.

The day or date complication is not important to me. I have an Explorer 214270 and don't miss the date at all.

I prefer no date. To me, the aesthetics of the cleaner dial offset the ability to know the date at a glance.

I don't like the cyclops at all---in fact, I wish my DJ2 and Hulk didn't have dates on them....I would especially like it if Rolex offered the Hulk without the date! One of the things I love most about my Milgauss if that it doesn't have the "disruptive" cyclops :)
