Great Shows

I'm back to "normal" now, but recently had 3 months off work due to a pretty bad work related injury. Sooooo, I had time to watch some great shows recently. Figured I'd share some and see what everyone else was currently on.

Wayward Pines. Season 1 phenomenal. Season 2... Not as good because you already know the secret.

Silicon Valley- HILARIOUS and Amazing.

Game of Thrones- Duh.

Weeds

The Wire (top 5 of all time)

Generation Kill (just an honorable mention). I loved the books: One Bullet Away (Ret USMC Captains perspective and Generation Kill- enlisted members perspective.)

House of Cards. Somehow predicts what happens months down the road in our current US political environment.

Hope you're feeling better!

I liked the first two seasons of Weeds, thought it struggled after they burned the town down. Elizabeth Perkins (Celia) and Kevin Nealson (Doug) absolutely made that show for me.

I agree with you. The later seasons got a lot slower. I believe it was season 4 I enjoyed again. Or was it 5? Lol. I'm not sure.

The Wire is unbelievable. Think The Sopranos was a great one too, but will always be second for me. Currently on the last few episodes of the latest season of House of Cards and it's pretty enjoyable! I would also recommend Breaking Bad to anyone who hasn't seen it, it is one wild ride.

The last season of BB was unbelievably good.

If you can handle it, I liked Sons of Anarchy, but be ready for a great deal of violence.

Banshee on Cinemax is excellent.

The show just concluded after 4 seasons, but I highly recommend it.

On the lighter side I thought "Man Seeking Woman" is innovative and witty.

"Peaky Blinders" is good on Netflix. I'd like to see Cillian Murphy take a turn as "Bond, James Bond".

And "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" consistently makes me actually lol. Also on Netflix.........start from the beginning. I was in the hospital last year for a week. They had wi'fi and I binge-watched several seasons on my phone. The staff must have thought I was nuts hearing me laugh like a maniac at 3:00 am.

And you "Better Call Saul "

Get well soon. Here's some more to look at.

West Wing - possibly the greatest show ever made.
Newsroom
Billions - this has just started in UK but looks good
Madame Secretary.
The Blacklist.
The Americans - great Cold War stuff.
Modern Family.

You boys across the pond sure know how to make awesome television!

Currently watching The Sopranos for the second time... Great show. The Wire is another excellent one. If you haven't watched Six Feet Under, that is another worth watching.

Vikings and Black flag are two good series as well.
Tbh I'm quite disappointed with the current GoT season.

Did you watch last nights episode!!!? I would say one of the best in the series.

This season has been slow though.

I do agree that breaking Bad and better call Saul are awesome!!!!!

Wow looks like I have some new shows to watch!

I'm liking Billions, altho the growing conflict with the wife working for the enemy is a bit predictable and don't like Damian's thick accent too much.

Vikings is good fun, wish it was on a better channel to have better writing. Same for GOT, with no books to base it on, the writing is pretty weak this season but the action and twists and reunions have been entertaining.

I'm also watching Dexter and it's fantastic, on season 4.

And Versailles is getting better, I like the calm of Louis, who is also Viking's Athelstan.

I'm catching up on this season of The American's, Billions, and Vinyl.

Really liking Vinyl, but funny to see Ray Romano in a drama...he always plays such a wimp.

Great Shows

It's amazing how quality TV has exploded in the last 8-10 years. It used to be 300 channels of junk, and now I couldn't binge-watch enough to see everything worth watching.

A plug for "Damages". My wife and I watched that until the sun came up.

Breaking Bad was ok, but that's all it was, just ok. Way too much hype for me so I found it a but disappointing.

Ray Donovan is excellent as is Game of Thrones. Another one that is up there is Grimm but I'm beginning to think it might go a bit downhill from the next season.

Glad you made a full recovery, Tye

How is sons of anarchy?

Thinking about starting, but it's a pretty big commitment. 7 seasons.

The characters/actors were excellent. Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Tommy Flannegan ("Chibs") and Mark Boone Jr (”Bobby Elvis") were the real standouts IMHO. The music was also excellent (check out the "Songs of Anarchy" albums).

It's "Hamlet" in the guise of a motorcycle club in NoCal that runs guns for the IRA while keeping drug dealers out of their base of operation (Charming, CA). Quite violent as you can imagine. There were great seasons and so-so seasons. The first two were quite good.
