Icon14 Thanks Tom @ D's Time Service!

Had my 16550 Explorer II completely rebuilt In January and the mainspring just went out. Dropped it off at D's Time Service and Next Day (Bam!) watch has new mainspring, keeping perfect time and No Charge!

Been going to Tom for years; great guy and service. Wouldn't go anywhere else in San Diego.

Is Tom more reasonable price-wise compared to Ben Bridge?

Yes considering that's where they send work they can't handle (any sort of more involved watchmaking). Tom is first class.

thanks.....I went to see him once (in the jewelry building, right?) to look at my watch when it was new and running a bit fast. He tested it and said not to mess with it.
Seems like a nice guy (Asian guy?)

Yes that's Tom Doan (D's Time Service in the historical Jewelry Exchange Building). He's serviced over 10 of my pieces now without a hitch vintage and modern. Always gives honest assessment in terms of servicing the watch (he can measure the amplitude for you beforehand etc) and doesn't nickle and dime anything. I don't go anywhere else now being local in San Diego for Rolex and Omega (what I collect).

Yes, Tom's very friendly and won't overcharge / do work that isn't necessary. He's got all the certifications needed; I'll never go to RSD as long as he's around.

Looks great. It's good to hear you have it back and in tip-top shape. Most importantly you didn't get "Kent-ed"( see another thread).

Great Larry ! I've used him too. Good guy. He offered me a coke bezel for next to nothing and although I could've certainly bought it, I didn't need it.
