URGENT HELP needed from experienced members

Hi All,

I have the opportunity to pick up a DaytonaC in black (my favorite) from and AD at msrp.
However there is a but: The warranty card has the name of the customer that returned for what appears to be financial mishaps.

I'm told the stickers are still on.

What do you think? Is there a risk associated to this transaction?
Will I have issues with Rolex not providing warranty work because it's not in my name?

I have to make a decision ASAP.
I'm not a big spender at all and never bought from this AD, I'm being hooked up via a friend so this is the opportunity of a life time (in Rolex terms :-))

Warranty follows the watch, not the original purchaser from what I've seen. I'd snatch it up if like new condition with stickers etc

Buy that sucker. Your sales receipt from AD will be your back up if you ever need service

I would buy it if I were you. If you decide it is not in your comfort zone, I'm sure there are more than a few on these boards that would buy it in your place.

Is it white or black dial?

Tell the AD you will buy today, but have them request a new warranty card from Rolex. The cost is around $50, just offer to pay if they're not willing.

This is a very good suggestion. I'd run with this as well.

Didn't know this was possible. If it is, sounds like the perfect solution.

Buy it! Depends how quickly they want to unload it, I may even ask for a discount.

Take advantage of the name and the fact that it is technically pre-owned. Don't pay above MSRP!

This

Didn't realize there was a cost involved, but considering you'd be spending $12.4k (and tax?) an extra $50 to give you peace of mind I wouldn't think to be a big deal.

ADs do it all the time when a buyer flakes on the purchase or the card is filled out incorrectly. Technically, they can't once the watch leaves the store, so perhaps in OP's case, they will let you take it home now, or have you come back when the new card is ready. Takes a few weeks. Cheers on a sweet buy!

The first 118206 Day Date platinum I bought had the name of a famous actor on the warranty card. It was legitimate he had been the buyer but had not kept it. It appeared unworn to me.

Yeah.... Usually they would issue a new card as Ad. But no problem either way... Unless you look at the card more than the watch? Great opportunity.

Normally I want the card on my name, but in this case would accept it ...
If any regrets you can easily sell it for more, even if you've worn it. Nothing to worry.

Buy but demand a discount. It is technically a used watch, or have them re-issue the warranty card. It is very doable for them, but of course they would like to avoid the extra work. Simply demand it from them, it might take a few weeks but they can surely get it done.

Don't think you are going to get anywhere with this model. You balk at list price and there is a long line behind you willing to pay list price or more.

If you are in the market, snag it ASAP. Even at msrp it is a great spot.
