Great shots so far gentlemen!

Please keep them coming. I offloaded my Hulk and BLNR and need a replacement. I considered a trusty Submariner but the gas escape valve and beefier case make this piece really desirable.

The SD is really special, in my opinion, compared to the Sub. I have a Sub too, but the little details of the SD make it something special - fully graduated bezel, matte dial, no cyclops, thickness, etc.

Why did you get rid of the Hulk? I'm thinking of adding one to the collection.

I fully agree with you. The little "add ons" make the SD quite unique and I am strongly considering it.

The Hulk will forever be my favorite watch and I will buy it again one day. It went well with anything I wore.

I dumped it because I bought it to commemorate a special milestone in my marriage which sadly went sour... nothing to do with the watch !

Damn I'm starting to prefer the sd4k over the subC. Anyone knows if its a sure confirmed thing that they are doing away with the matte satin dials?

I just picked up the 116610LV. I took a good long look at the SD4K.

There's always going to be the fan favorites: the Submariners, the GMT-Masters, Datejusts, etc. Then there's those pieces in the Rolex lineup that when you see in the wild you just have to appreciate. For me those are the SD4k, the Milgauss GV, and the Yachtmaster.

For me, it is the thickness of the lugs which is the key difference. You can see in those comparison pictures how 'blocky' the standard sub can look. The 4000 is like the traditional sub shape, and all the better for it.
As for the dial....there has yet to appear a single picture of the mysterious 'glossy' dial. Don't hold your breath. I have seen new samples just arriving in the stores, dials unchanged. I have one......it's tricky because these dials change under the light.

Does anyone have the old (5 digit ref) and new pics side by side? I owned a P series, wore it for 2 years, and loved it. I was wondering which wears "bigger" or differently...

Here's a couple, one under the cuff to show the thickness is not a problem (for me at least!)

Here are my 16660 and 116600. The SDc feels a little chunkier all over, the 16660 has longer lugs. Not a lot in it, but it's noticeable.

I also offloaded my LVc and blnr and then decided to add the sdc to bring a Rolex back into my rotation.

It's the best of the bunch imho. If they drop an sdc hulk....ill be in Rolex heaven.

Until then
