Dial cleaning tip

Bit of a minefield subject,I know but I've had a great result in using electronic contact cleaner sprayed onto a cotton bud then rubbed across the watch face. Took plenty dirt off with no adverse effect.
This was on a 50s Tudor.

I'm not recommending this as there's too many variables just sharing my experience.

Sounds very risky to rub across the dial but nice that it worked. Was it a matt dial piece? Do you have pictures?

This is key. If you try this on a modern glossy Rolex dial, you will likely ruin the dial.

Cleaning definitely came out nicely. Love the early Tudors. 'Grats on the successful clean up! As someone mentioned I'm pretty sure that may destroy a newer dial, but I don't know. Enjoy the Tudor.
