Is this 5512 by Robert Maron really worth $135,000?

If so, I would appreciate somebody to drop some knowledge on me as to the reasons. Thank you in advance for the education that will hopefully follow this request.

I can't comment on the price per se, but being a chapter ring gilt underline 5512 with silver 4 line is pretty rare from what I gather. Seemingly all original.

The 4 lines with silver print is really rare.

Very rare reference. If it all checks out some collector will buy it, maybe not for the asking price but a large sum regardless.

Was sold in January for a lot less (55k) and came with a nice rivet band and long 5 insert. He took the insert and band and is now asking 135k, good deal!

Without opening the listing, answer to your question is still "probably not".

However, it is worth what someone will pay for it...so who knows.

Slightly off topic, but how were you able to pull up a listing that old? I thought that after a few months eBay archives the listings so they are no longer searchable.

Good find though!

Did they have cal. 1560 movements as early as 1962?

I searched through google images and when I found a match it led me to an eBay sale.

If it was all original + B&P (and was on John Wayne's wrist) yes.

Otherwise I don't think so

they're going up

Surprising to learn that the early 5512's have quickly gone up in price. I thought my 1959 two-liner 5512 (no box and papers but from a friend and first owner who provided pictures of him wearing the watch while in the military) was a lot less than that - at most lower-middle 5 digits - but I was offered around 75K earlier this week (unsolicited) and after asking around that seems to be a correct rate for the moment. As it's an heirloom piece and will never be sold but I am a bit peeved because I'm questioning weather to wear it or not anymore.

For some reason dealers keep confusing phone numbers with prices these days

I think that the rarity of a 5512, which can be extreme in the case of early examples with desirable dials, is increasingly being appreciated.

I do not comment on the price or watch first mentioned in this thread.

Robert Marion is not know for low prices. If I were looking for that exact watch I would keep looking. Of course its is a rare one but a very high price. JMHO and good luck.
