Rolex 116200 Datejust fully brushed steel

Some of you posted in the past, wondering how the new Datejusts 116xxx series, that come only in jubilee or oyster bracelets with middle links polished, would look like if Rolex continued their tradition on the 1600s and the 16000s. Here it is. Do you prefer the new modern look with the middle links polished or the classic all-brushed look?

I much prefer that look. In fact, had that been the way the Datejusts were when I picked out my Explorer, I probably would've ended up with a Datejust instead (probably the 116200- black stick dial, oyster bracelet, smooth bezel). I would also have bought a green date wheel for it too and had that added in haha. Unfortunately the PCL's and polished lugs are too much for me.

That turned out great!

For the smooth bezel DJ I like that look. I think for the fluted model I would still prefer the factory PCL look.

It looks nice, but personally I prefer the PCL's on the DJ.

Thank you all for your feedbacks. So there seems to be a divided personal preference for PCL or brushed and so far looks like a close split.

I much prefer the brushed finish on the 116200. Is this a photoshop or a real mod?

Brushed, of course. I don't get the polished center links. Fully brushed is one of the characteristics of my Seadweller I like most.

Hi,

Interesting. I'm honestly not sure, off the top of my head. I think for the Datejust I do prefer the polished look. But then having said that, the fully-brushed appearance of the lugs, bracelet and clasp was one of the big attractions for me for the Oyster Perpetual, which I ended up buying not that long ago.

I thought I would like it, but I really don't. The brushed lugs make them look even more bulbous than they usually do. The older brushed references are where it's at if you like that look.

It's definitely more lowkey and resembles the vintage watches more than the modern Rolex lineups

Great mod. Looks real good and just the explorer + date look that I have always wanted.

How did you carry out the mod? Was it DIY or did you get a jeweler to do it? If DIY can you share some instructions, e.g. scotch-brite? I have a 116200 black concentric dial with Arabic numerals smooth bezel + oyster PCL. I haven't been wearing it for a while cos it's too blingy. I think it will look good with all brushed finish. Thanks in advance.

I sent it to an independent who used to work at Rolex. I wouldn't DIY myself.
