New Member Seeks to Pick Your Expert Brains!

Greetings everyone. I just joined yesterday and just figured out how to post a new thread LOL. I bought Rolex Datejust from a store called David Scott Fine Jewelry in Panama City Florida. Mr. Scott has guaranteed that this watch is authentic and after reviewing a variety of Rolex brochures on how to tell the difference between real vs fake watches, this seems to look pretty good to my untrained eye! However, the band is rather lightweight-but I understand old bands can be less heavy. The watch itself is heavy. The second hand sweeps smoothly with only tiny hesitation and the very rapid ticking is inaudible unless the watch is held up to my ear. I only paid $2,200 for this watch so wanted to check to see what you all think. I have a serial number which Mr Scott gave to me on the receipt. Attaching some photos. Thank you so very much in advance. I am very impressed with the level of knowledge & expertise of the members on this site.

Dial not original ( diamonds are aftermarket) band has seen better days. Overall the rest appears genuine.

Thank you, David! I'd like to buy a new band (gold/SS) but do not see any listed in Classified on this site at the moment but shall keep looking. The seller gave me a 12-month warranty. I think overall I got a good deal?

the watch is nice enough and the added diamonds look ok but forget buying another band. search for threads here and contact MK in hong kong to rebuild and tighten up yours as that's the only practical way. buying a tight TT jubilee will be cost prohibitive.

Yeppers, the band is best sent to Michael Young at Classic Watch Repair in Hong Kong. You will not believe how he can bring back a tired stretched out bracelet. Check out his website for some before/after pics.

Best of luck and welcome to TRF.

$2200 is a bit high for that condition... Very surprised to see that it isn't at very least polished if it is coming from a fine jewelry store.

They could at least replace the crystal at that price so that the dial pops

Thank you to all! You folks are awesome. I've already sent Michael an email and yes, looks like he does amazing work. The guy at the jewelry store offered to replace the crystal but I could not leave it as I was going out of town back home to Miami. I will see how much Michael charges to do that as well as to tighten the band and basically just give the watch a little face lift lol. It really is very pretty and is exactly what I was looking for. I like men's watches even though I have a very small wrist. plus, to be completely honest, I cannot see the dial on women's watches without my glasses lol! Again, thank you so much. This listserv is a treasure trove of amazing people with tons of expertise. I lucked out!
