Rolex Daytona 1992
Ok I have a question. I know engraved backs are generally fakes. This was owned by a guy in politics who travelled to Daytona for 6 months out of the
year. There were some watches handed out to drivers and others to winners. Can anybody say if this is fake based on anything other than the engraving??? if real it could be worth more if fake it's worthless. I'd love to know if it's a ripoff or rare piece.... |

I've never known Rolex to print the model number 116520 on a bracelet. Actually, come to think of it, that's not the right serial number for a 2 tone. Also, I know a guy who won the 24 hours of Daytona and they gave him a SS. I believe they always give SS. This is a fake sorry to say.

I'm not upset it's a fake if it is as I have not purchased it. It's just for sale and seemed to good to be true. I saw that serial number thing. Apparently all drivers received the ss version and winners got this. I don't believe it but the certificate looks interesting. Apparently a jeweler verified it's real... I have no opinion either way.

Assuming that certificate isn't just a colour photocopy, it's about 50-60 years old. And the 116520 didn't even exist in 1992. Watch is junk.

ok from memory a 1994 would be a 16520 not a 116520 so thats first and secondly im pretty sure tt's are 16523/116523 not 520....
its got bullsh*t written all over it... id avoid as a modified piece of paper that can be easily altered then repeatedly photocopied to look real and vintage wouldnt be enough for me. someone either scamming or has been scammed

Ok. So this watch us supposedly a 4130 model. These were produced only after 2000 from what I've read. This makes it fake.. When you search 116520 you do get hits for Rolex Daytona watches for whatever reason. I think the serial number is actually between the two posts under the 6 position where the band attaches. It's odd but I'm no expert. It's being examined by a jeweler tomorrow so they'll open it up and check the numbers etc. it's fake as far as I'm concerned but know I want to know for sure so I'm going to see it in person

Let's get some things straight here. 116520 is the Stainless steel Daytona with 4130 in house movement. Two tone would be a different model. That engraving on the caseback is a common Chinese fake stamp. YouTube it.

Don't waste your (or the jeweler's) time. The watch is 10000% fake. NOTHING is genuine there. Move on.

Good news is they spelled "AT" correctly usually its 'AD'
Bad news is they were ONLY ever made/issued in SS. Out of curiosity do the chronograph pusher functions work? Adam
