Just throwing this idea out there - Starting an airline flight GTG post

In addition to being an avid watch collector, I am also sort of a frequent flyer and rewards points junky. On one of the frequent flyer blogs I frequent there are numerous meet up threads in which people post on what flight they will be on and on what day so they can meet other people from the forum on those flights or in airport lounges. This is not only done for flights but also for hotel stays.

This has me wondering if there might be demand/interest for something like this on TRF in the Meet Up/GTG Forum (or this forum). I travel internationally several times a year (as well as domestically in the US) and it amazes me that typically when I am on a flight I see a lot of nice watches...definitely more than in my normal life. During those flights I look and admire from a distance but if I knew it was another TRF member we could play show and tell. In listing flights I do think it's safe...hotel stays are another thing that I would avoid (and typically do so on the travel forum) due to security issues.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a logistical nightmare. Wouldn't you have to coordinate seats?

I see headlines in my mind...
"Unruly Rolex Flyers Force Flight To Reroute"

With the hub/spoke system we have now, there are chances people never make it to the target departure gate unless they live there.

I'm sure the flight attendants would love a bunch of "crazies" standing around, walking around talking loudly about watches the whole flight.

Take the watches out of that and it's no different than any other flight for them

Negative. Those drinks costs too much and toilet line too long, plus I'd rather spend my miles flying somewhere I actually want to be at.....

Affirmative for a GTG at local cafe :)
