New case...

What would happen to a sub if you replace the case for a new one? If the old one is polished over the years and edges are not so crisp anymore - I guess you could replace the case for a rather large cost. But what would then happen to the serial number? I suppose you then will have a certificate that don't match the watch making the watch loose a lot of value?

You have paperwork that shows the serial number change.

As to losing value; which is more valuable - a watch with a bad case that won't keep water out, or a proper replacement that makes it like new ?

(excepting, of course, rare collector-only pieces)

What model / serial was the Sub?
