The clasps and screws are made of 18k rose gold. It's the way they left the factory.

They are alloyed with copper to make them stronger and more springy.

Chemicals can change the oxidation state of the metals used to alloy with gold. Copper for example is very dependent upon acids, oxidizers (peroxide, Clorox) and even the sodium in some soaps. It can change color quite a bit from turning 18k gold into slightly pink or green, or even nearly white.

Cleaning a watch should only be done with clear, preferably distilled water and a drop of normal dishwashing liquid.

I had a similar issue on a 116528 (bezel) which used to turn into a reddish pinkish colour - took it to the RSC in London and after writing them a harsh letter, the bezel was replaced.

I've had a few 116528's since then but it only ever happened on that one. As others have said above - this may be standard for the president but you can always take it in if it bothers you.

Hope it helps.
