Hi All,

Has anyone any experience of refinishing a Day-Date back side case lug are where the bracelet pins have marked the case when the bracelet has been removed?
Is this a gold-smiths job or possible to do a DIY?

Its something that a watchmaker would do when the refurbed it after a service.

If they are heavily marked you would use a hard graining wheel so not a diy job and I wouldn't use a jeweller to refurb a watch apart from a bit of laser welding.

Don't take it to a jeweler, in my experience they have no consideration for how it should actually look. If it's driving you crazy you can take it to an authorized Rolex repair shop and request they regrain only that part. They may charge and they may not be willing to do it without doing the whole watch. I would personally do it free of charge as a courtesy as long as you are cool. (You'd be surprised at how often people come in acting like a complete asshat while demanding favors. That's a sure fire way to not get something done.) but that's by no means what you should expect, always expect to pay.

When we at RSC polish a watch we also do the back of the lugs if they are scratched.

That's a brushed finish right? I've brushed mine with a Bergeon fiberglass pen with good results. It's very hard to mess up.
