My dad's 1961 Bulova restoration

My mom bought my dad a Bulova for an engagement gift in 1962. My dad was a mechanic and the watch sat in a drawer for nearly 30 years. I took it a few years ago not really sure what I was going to do with it. I remember when I was a kid picking the watch up and hearing the rotor move then watching it start up. This watch is what made me fall in love with automatic watches! A few months ago I took it to my watchmaker and had him restore it. Dial refinish, relume, new crystal and strap. I was able to give the watch to my parents this past week. I think it turned out great! Like their love for each other this meager little Bulova has stood the test of time!

Never seen a ridged/fluted dial like that before, it's beautiful. Very thoughtful, meaningful gesture.

Of course, whilst I hope your father enjoys wearing the Bulova for many, many years to come, it's also nice that your restorative actions to save the watch will mean that in future years, you'll be able to wear it & be reminded of your parents also. A very special thing indeed.

Thanks for all the kind remarks! I can't take any credit other than finding the right watchmaker!! Unjust let him do what he does...
