Icon6 Tudor Black Bay Dark - Thoughts?

Hi forum!

I recently saw and handled the brand new Tudor Black Bay Dark and It's really caught my attention. Seriously considering it as I'm getting a good price from local dealer.

The PVD finishing is nice. it had a slight silky/shiny effect on the case. I'm not feeling the bracelet but this is available in a leather strap.

Any thoughts on the PVD and how it may hold up long term? On the one hand, I like the idea of having a watch that's 'worn' well with time. But concerned I may change my mind once the scratches/marks are there.

Value any thoughts.

It's really cool. However, I dislike PVD/DLC cases. If this was in stainless steel, whilst using the same dial and bezel, I'd be all over it.

I tried it on and it is a great looking piece but I am concerned with long term scratches. The Tudor rep claims the coating won't chip but will show scratches.
Maybe buy a sharpie marker to go with it????

I like it but will not pay the premium for the PVD coated Black Bay. Over time I think the wear and tear will make the watch less. Cool black case and I have seen many older PVD watches and as the wear starts they lose some of the appeal. It is like black clothing for me, once it starts to fade I replace it because I wanted black not faded.

I like it, but have concerns over the durability too.

Jomashop have them listed for just over $3k (with a 4-8 week lead time) which is a more realistic price in my opinion, but I'd like to see some real world experiences first.

I think it's a very cool looking watch but I also would doubt the durability of the coating.

Any thoughts on the PVD and how it may hold up long term?[...].
The factory is saying they use a technology developed by NASA.

So considering this cheap marketing talk we can only surmise it wont be long lasting and, therefore, not a good option if you want long term.

But its beautiful.

if it is the DLC PVD, then it should be solid. I had a Bell and Ross PVD commando for 2 years. Not a single scratch was found on it when I sold it last month. It took the same beating as my other watches and the PVD coating held up extremely well. Way better than any other SS rolex I have.

Looks good, but like everyone else mentioned the durability of the coating is a concern. I have the BB red and love it.

id go for it.

pvd is better than ceramic imo. ive seen some ceramic damage on the blackshield as well as some bad corrosion on panerai ceramic models.

the only thing i dont like about the watch is the price - however, at 3.5k or so id pull the trigger.

i got a tudor pelagos and i can vouch that the new movements power reserve and accuracy are top notch.

The nato is the best option by far for this one. Still not sure I trust pvd though which of course is your question.

I agree. That nato! Does anyone know what this retails for after any discounts in the US and UK?

definitely agree looks best on NATO. Never been a fan of all black case/black bracelet watches.

The BBDark looks great, but I can't help but feel like I would buy a BBB over it.

No. To much Black Metal for me - so I'm happy this doesn't sing / scream to me.

There is truth in your comment about the bracelet. I was underwhelmed, it was comfortable but the clasp felt ordinary to handle and there is evidently that mismatched finish of the SEL from the rest of the bracelet.
