Would you flip

Dear All.

I value your input as always.

Currently contemplating flipping my 2014 116520 and putting 7k to a new Ceramic Everose Daytona with Ivory Dial.

My other watches are:

SD4000
AP ROC in steel / silver dial

other option is to wait 12 months (max) and purchase a new ceramic stainless daytona, keeping the 116520.

Many thanks.

Stuart

Question is what do you really want? Wait awhile and decide the new Daytona will probably be more readily available in the future. perhaps hold off until you can try on each piece then decide. Good luck!

I would like two things...
more versatility in my collection (I think 3 watches are enough) and a ceramic daytona!!!!

I can see both watches together in Manchester next week... not at an AD.

Definitely good advice to see both in the flesh.

Why not Neil's back dial or even choco if you have roc silver. Seems like a fair price

very true...
I envisage everest black rubber for informal and back on leather for formal.

i wouldn't.

those leather strap daytonas in gold are hard to flip and you can't use the bracelet,so you're limited to leather, rubber and natos/perlons,you'll get tired of it.

i would stay with the daytona, and then either sell it or keep it as an investment and buy a ceramic model.

I hope it is called Neil's dial on the Rolex website. Good call, make a great chrono pair.

I would not.

It is the same watch, the same movement.

If you want a different look then go for it.

Really depends on whether or not you want to go PM or simply have a Daytona with a ceramic bezel.

black dial with RG sub-dials is the one to get (IMHO).

Stu,

I probably wouldn't do that flip at this time. I love the idea of PM, but I'm more of a bracelet guy.

I think I would wait a little bit and see how available the 116500 is in the coming year or so and make a move then. You've got some great watches in the stable, so no need to rush things...unless of course you've got a burning desire for the RG Daytona...if so, then that's another matter. Good luck,

Skittman,

Am a bit biased as have the Ceramic Everose Daytona with Ivory Dial here and chose it to diversify my collection so that there's a very nice, more formal dress watch here. Accuracy has been outstanding and everyone who sees it really loves the more formal look over the more casual / common SS versions. The stock leather strap is great and you can get a really nice Rubber B strap with red stitching if you want to have a more casual look.

As for flipping it, if you buy right (which seems like you may be) then you're fine. Personally, do not plan to flip the C ERose 'tona for many years (if ever) so am fine there. It really stands out against the typical SS versions i see often and far more formal looking (which is why i went with it to add to the current ND Sub C).

Here's a pic with Rubber B strap for a more casual look, yet my wife (and i) feel the stock leather strap really makes it stand out the best. Very classy! Just trying to help you see strap options.

If you've got the means to diversify into PM go for it! I'm a huge fan of the RG/leather Daytona... And it's price isn't much more than gray market prices on the 116500.

Not a fan of the Daytona on a strap so I wouldn't do it. I'd prefer to wait the 12 months for the ceramic 116500 and have the 116520 as well.

Thanks so much for the input.
Diversity in the collection, without sacrificing a daytona is what I'm after.
I love the idea of a black rubber b for summer / more casual affairs.... when back on the leather it's a different watch entirely. almost like 2 in 1.
great camera too... I have a fuji x100t that I use for my watch photography.
Think my mind is made up... will seek to close the deal.
When the ad calls in 12 months time about a ceramic ss daytona I may have the means to take it up.....
other factors pushing me to a prompt decision....
1.
grey market daytona c prices are inflating ss models currently in UK IMO (how long will this be sustained when grey market daytona c prices settle)
2.
not wishing to start another price increase debate but UK prices are way below others due to exchnage rate fluctuations.
