Sold my C5Z for a CTS-V

Last month I decided to sell my C5 Z06 Corvette. I have had it for a little over 3 years. Lots of time and money invested in it. At first i did alot of Autocross with, then did 1/4 and now got hooked on the 1/2 mile events. My car was not the fastest by any means but served me well. Car had, heads, cam, intake, full exhaust, nitrous etc. Car made 488rwhp and 574rwhp on the bottle. About a 3 months ago I started looking at CTS-V wagons and coupes, its so hard to find a clean wagon for under $60k. I happen to be looking one day and found this beautiful 2011 CTS-V coupe with 33k miles 1 owner and Recaro seats. So far im in love with it. It was 100% stock when i bought it and so far only thing i have done is a upper pulley, heat exchanger, injectors and tune and made 534rwhp. Enough talking on to some pics.

My old C5Z

Nice cars, I too love the cts-v wagon. They may move this thread to another section by the way.

This thread has been moved to a more appropriate location as it has nothing to do with Rolex watches.

I love cts-v's. There is a shop here in Memphis that builds a lot of them, the owner runs an 1100hp 2011 coupe

Sweet ride. Huge congrats.

Love the color. Must be far more comfortable. And still every bit a rockets ship.

I had a 2011 CTS Coupe I almost swapped the lease out for on a V. Really really really fun cars. Thing that turned me off was that they eat tires like candy (guess that's any hi-po car) and the fuel mileage. Didn't quite do it for me as a daily. I did test drive one though and fell in love. Congrats!

Just a heads up on the pulley. I had a friend with one who over booster his, lifted the head, and aspirated coolant. Grenaded the whole motor. Just something to be mindful of.

Yes sir. Its not over pulleyed. has a 2.55 upper and stock lower and solid isolater and reinforced brick. Should be good to go. Hopefully buy mid march i want to have it at 800rwhp and run 180mph in the 1/2 mile.

That motor is actually a bulletproof motor. Unless you start running too much boost through them they're great. My 2011 treated me well I just hated the coupe. Wasn't for me. Cadillac service was (and probably still is) great. Besides OP seems like the type of guy that if he paid for it in cash he knows the in's and out's of that motor and what he could be in for.

Awesome pick up ~ Congrats!

The CTS-V's are pretty solid. Engines and trans are good no issues. Has the supercharger been changed? I would have a Cadillac dealership look at that if not ~ might catch it still under warranty. (Known issue)

I have done a few of the half mile events and I can tell you that every time the ctsV coupes that enter are built up to 700-800 horse, they are always some of the fastest cars attending. Have fun nodding that beast, great color too.

Thank you, and yes it has already been replaced. I think the "warranty" goes for 7 years or 120k miles on the blower. I actually think its a TSB and not actually a warranty thing but most dealerships will warranty it. When I did the upper pulley I also changed out the spring isolater (the problem maker) for the solid isolater. But like you said the LSA is a very solid motor. I have had 6 LS motors and raced all 6 of them lol. They are truly some of the best motors to mod.

You where quicker than me lol. Fastest I hit on spray was 159.07mph. Problem for me was having to shift into 5th always slowed me down, hate that 4th to 5th shift lol. Hopeing to have some more stuff done soon (meth, cam, heads, etc) Wannagofast will be here in Nov. Plan to be 700rwhp by then. I know thatch nothing out there but will still be fun either way. What did you have done to the GTR? had a friend that just sold his 14 GTR with full bolt ons, I never got a chance to race him.

So far I love it. My wife has an 14 ATS and the few times we took it in for service work Swell Cadillac has always been fantastic. They even offer to give us a rental car for an oil change lol. I wasnt big on the coupe myself but it has really grown on me. I really wanted a wagon but almost impossible to find the color i want with recaros. When i seen this coupe it was the color i wanted with the all black recaros and low mileage and price was right. So i had to pick it up. What did you not like about it? Only complaint i have is, seeing out of the back window is impossible lol

Great car and dig the color choice!
My S5 lease will be up next year and the V series is on the short list for my next ride.
Congratulations!

2015 Cabriolet 3.0 with pulley and ECU tuned by Auchtuning. I am more of a Corvette/GM muscle car guy, but live in a region with mountains and snow. Historically had two cars but about 10 years ago sold my last Vette and SUV and switched to Audi for a one car Sun and snow machine. Been pretty happy with the Audi but it is a touch small for a one car system. There really is not a large enough all wheel drive sports car that will serve all my needs.
Probably going back to a two car system and GM.
Right now leaning towards a AWD XTS with the V twin turbo engine for the winter and either a newer 650HP Z06 Roadster or a 68-72 big block Roadster for the rest of the year. Even though the newer GM's blow away the old models performance wise, I am a sucker for the mid to late 60's muscle cars...

The car handled like it was on rails even being just the regular coupe. I had the backup camera so the window really wasn't an issue. Honestly, it just didn't suit me and my lifestyle. I'm more of an SUV guy. I spend a lot of time outdoors and hunting/fishing. My only complaint (not even really a complaint) was the interior just wasn't as finely finished as I'd have expected it to be. Otherwise it was a beautiful car.

I ended up going with a loaded out Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Really? I think the interior is amazing. Then again im coming for the interior of a C5Z. You just had a CTS not a CTS-V? I personally love the interior of my V. The back up camera is ok, not the best but not bad.

Not my pic but exact same interior.

I had the CTS coupe standard RWD. It was basically loaded except for the top level lux package with the wood grain dash. I'm a younger guy. Wasn't feeling that wood grain jazz. Car was black with the steel grey interior. That looked sharp brand new but that steel gray leather got dirty with time. The only part of the interior i thought was a little cheesy was the center tower/console and the plastic dashboard inlays. I also didn't find the interior to be terribly durable. My JGC interior seems to be more rugged. It wasn't bad. I just expected something a little more solid. Car was a great car otherwise. Not one mechanical issue. Cadillac even warrantied my front brakes.
