1878 American Waltham

My mom has an old pocket watch from my grandfather's mom. From what I can tell it's an 1878 American Waltham. The case is solid gold.

She said it worked up to a few years ago, so I'm curious where one would take a watch like this to get repaired and serviced.

Any idea what it is worth? I'm sure she has it insured for a generic value, but I'm not sure anyone in my family or the insurance company knows the value.
