116655 RG YM vs PP 5167r

For those of you who have both or have at least tried on both, which of these two would you prefer? The plus for the YM is the scratch resistant bezel vs the scratch magnet bezel of the 5167. Also, the Rolex website says the YM clasp has the easy link, another plus for the YM. I already have the 116622 with Blue dial, so that puts the PP slightly ahead, but I also have a 5712r, so that also kinda puts the playing field back to neutral.

I would really appreciate your comments.

I'd go YM. Aquanaut does nothing for me.

Easy one YM!, I had the SS aquanaut w Tiffany co-dial nice watch but hated the rotor noise (some find it endearing) and how easily its bezel scratched.

As you have the 5712r I would go for the 5164r. Fantastic watch.

My 5167r just got the sticking date issue lastnight. when I turned the hands to 2:34 in the morning, I push the crown back to the winding position, the date changed completely. Since then it changes the date at 2:34 everytime instead of midnight. It is now at the service center, just want to share the experience.

I would go with the YM since you already have the 5712r (great watch, btw).

Had a 5167 for years, like you said scratch magnet. Besides that, the YM is just so superior in virtually every way (other than trans back to MB too). YM FTW.

The new yachtmaster is awesome. Really sharp looking watch. I highly recommend trying one on.

Prefer the 5167 for a whole bunch of reasons, one of which is I don't go racing in my yacht, so a pointless complication.

Before you completely crowd source your decision, do two things:

1. Post the same question on the Patek forum

2. Go try them both on

Normally I'd say PP and not a huge YM fan, but I'm less of a 5167 fan, so in this case Rolex.

Defitnely YM 116655 - without a doubt. I much prefer it over my old 5167R not even close.

The YM by a mile. The Aquawart (what many PP aficionado's refer to it as) does not have one visually appealing feature to me. Like all PP's the movement craftsmanship has much merit, though PP's movements are nowhere near as robust or reliable as Rolex. The Rolex reliability has as much appeal as any finishing treatment, perlage, Geneva stripes or a blued screw!

I appreciate the responses. I'll see if my AD can let me try on the YM with the correct strap combination.

Like them both but I'm back to being drunk on Rolex again. YM would be my choice.

I would and will buy the yachmaster here. I would like it on a bracelet though, but beggars can't be choosers.

I do also like the acquanaut series though, but would likely be in the 5164r camp

I had the 5167 for about 3 months and it just didn't sing to me after that - tried the YM on in Singapore recently and think it's simply stunning (not typically a PM guy). Go YM and I know you'll be happy - easy piece to move if you change your mind (which I doubt you will).

I dumped my 116655 for $18500 after 10 months. We just never connected but I prefer it to the R primarily based on price
