FS: Vintage 1961 Omega Gold Cap Constellation on BOR Bracelet w/ BOXES & PAPERS
Up for sale is this lovely early 1960s reference 14092 Omega Constellation in Steel and Yellow Gold cap with original and uncommon non-luminous Pie Pan "Crosshair" dial & matching non-luminous hands. This example is in beautifully unmolested Excellent+ vintage condition and also has the coveted Omega caliber 561 under the hood. The watch shows no polish to my eyes and features crisp edges and chamfers. To put the cherry on top of the sundae, this classic Constellation comes with its original period boxes and dealer-stamped guarantee, elevating an already very nice watch into a real collector-grade piece. The asking price for this beautiful example of classic Omega Constellation with extremely hard-to-find original boxes and papers is $1,950 USD, which includes fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. Bank Wire always appreciated but Paypal is also OK with split fees (+2% to the buyer). Other payment options upon application. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting. CASE & CASEBACK: Classic "grasshopper" lug 3-piece case in yellow gold cap over stainless steel and screw in water resistant steel back measures an elegant 34mm x 44mm. There are some minor marks and scuffs from wear but the lugs show no visible polish and the chamfers are still sharp with no loss of the plating — Excellent vintage condition. The bezel also has sharp edges and so not apparently polished either. The outer caseback appears likewise untouched with a very crisp Observatory medallion and has only a few minor scuffs but no harsh tool marks — Excellent external cosmetic condition. The caseback screws into the case nice & tightly and the inner back is corrosion free. Reference 14902-61 SC, as well as all other correct period Omega nomenclature, is present. DIAL & HANDS: Excellent condition original factory-printed pale silver/gold "Crosshair" dial with hand-riveted gold faceted bar markers and numerals, applied omega symbol & Connie star in the more uncommon non-luminous layout. There is the typical light spotting to the finish of the dial but it looks gorgeous on the wrist. All original factory-printed 2-line "Automatic Chronometer,” “Constellation," crosshair motif and SWISS MADE writing is present and intact. The matching non-luminous gold Dauphine and sweep seconds hands are all Excellent+ with some very light signs of aging but are corrosion free and match the tone of the dial markers perfectly. Simply a beautiful layout with real vintage charm on this original, un-retouched Connie dial. CROWN: Original 10-sided signed Omega gold plated winding crown is Excellent with just a little wear to the plating at the edges. The crown winds and pulls out to the time-setting position as it should. CRYSTAL: Cool low-domed acrylic crystal with the internal date magnifier in Excellent condition with just a few light scratches and the factory Omega symbol in the center. MOVEMENT: 24-Jewel caliber 561 full-rotor auto movement with date complication and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, arguably part of the best family of mass-produced movements in the history of horology. The movement serial # of 19,41x,xxx dates it to 1961, perfectly matching the inner caseback date code. Pink copper plating is intact, very clean and shiny, and all bridges match in tone perfectly. While the service history of this fine movement in unknown to me it is running strong and keeping excellent time with a strong power reserve and the semi-quickset date is also functioning as it should. This is guaranteed to be the case at the time of shipment. BRACELET: This great Connie comes on its original reference 8220 20 micron gold-plated stainless steel Beads of Rice bracelet with “11” ends. Its overall condition is Excellent with just some scratches to the signed clasp and the links are very tight with barely any stretch. The only drawback is that it is not very long and will only fit a maximum of a 7” wrist and that pretty snuggly (I don't have any extra links for it). This watch has 18mm wide lugs. BOXES & PAPERS: Putting this classic Connie over the top are its original early 60s boxes and papers, with the outer cardboard box and the inner silver plastic padded clamshell, both featuring the gold Omega logo and both in Excellent+ condition. The inner box has its original velveteen inlay and the watch also amazingly comes with its original 2-part factory warranty papers, with the outer sleeve and the guarantee booklet both matching the watch’s model and movement serial number. The booklet is stamped by a Hong Kong dealer and 12/29/1963 is written as the date of sale. Pretty cool provenance and accessories and not something you see every day accompanying a 55-year-old watch! As a matter of policy, I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form. This great Vintage Omega Constellation is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer. This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL. Thanks for looking, T. [email protected] |
