FS: Jaeger LeCoultre geophysic 1958 S/S Q8008520
Purchased at the JLC Boutique in Rome in 2014. Was tried on in the boutique and hasn't been put on a wrist since.
Asking $9,500 shipped OBO Description: BRAND: JAEGER-LECOULTRE MODEL: GEOPHYSIC 1958 - Q8008520 MOVEMENT: AUTOMATIC CAL. 898/1 CASE MATERIAL: STAINLESS STEEL CASE SIZE: 38.5 MM CRYSTAL: SAPPHIRE BRACELET/STRAP: BLACK ALLIGATOR STRAP WITH TANG BUCKLE FUNCTIONS: HOURS, MINUTES, CENTER SECONDS FEATURES: LUMINESCENCE WATER RESISTANCE: 100 METRES This full set, limited edition Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic from 2014 is in unworn condition and has perfect mechanical functionality. Inspired by the original Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic made in 1958, it is a tribute model released in 2014 and retains a lot of the design elements used in the original, notably the white sectored dial, luminous sword hands and what is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the watch, lume plots on the inside of the bezel. Admittedly, the original had the luminous plots on the inside of the crystal but nevertheless a similar effect was recreated. Made for extreme conditions, the purpose of the original Geophysic was to create the most durable and precise watch in the world, and the tribute edition is no less. The stainless steel case is sized at 38.5mm with a polished bezel and lugs with brushed sides. Furthermore, the watch is 11.4mm thick, giving the watch a good balanced presence on the wrist. The textured white dial has a minimalistic and symmetrical 12-3-6-9 layout and luminous material on both the hands and on each hour. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic 1958 houses the JLC calibre 898/1 and it is fittingly the manufacture’s most reliable and precise movement. It is protected by an antimagnetic case and features automatic winding with ceramic ball bearings that requires no lubrication, helping the longevity of the movement. Moreover it features innovations such as a Kif Parechoc for shock resistance and Spyr gears for a smooth transition of torque in the gear train. As a watch that is underpinned by reliability and accuracy and in typical Jaeger-LeCoultre fashion, the Geophysic was put through 1000 hours of controlled testing and outperforms chronometer grade movements with a deviation of -1/+4 seconds a day. This timepiece is water resistant to 100 meters and has a power reserve of 43 hours. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geoyphysic 1958 in stainless steel is limited to 800 pieces, making this watch a rare and desirable piece. Moreover, the minimalistic design and modern size makes this a very versatile timepiece that can be both dressed up or down. The original Jaeger-LeCoultre black alligator strap is included with its stainless steel tang buckle. |
