Will Rolex tell you if a watch has been serviced by them?

Just curious. I recently purchased a mint used Rolex at a large retailer (starts with a "T") know to sell many “certified pre-owned”
During the process I was told several times that they send all of their Rolexes to Rolex for service and that it was serviced in 2016 (vs. doing it themselves) I have their warranty but nothing from Rolex. The watch is fine and I love it. Just wondering if they were blowing smoke to make a sale. I normally wouldn’t buy from these guys but they had what I wanted when I wanted it and they paid more for my trade than I expected. Very close to what I could get on a sales board.
So – If I call Rolex will they verify a service based on a provided SN? I doubt it but I’m curious if anyone has ever called to check service history. the dealer is an AD at some but not all locations. I know most ADs provide RCS service paperwork for pre-owned.
Thanks
JJK

Not sure if RSC will disclose that information, but "T" should have the paperwork to prove it. I'm sure others will come along shortly with first-hand experience with this. By the way, what did you trade and for which one?

if indeed serviced by RSC, check inside the caseback for "engravings" usually a date, service code and intials.

Who's going to check the inside of the case back for verification?

I don't think Rolex will just tell you, however if you have it serviced by them yourself any previous services will most likely show up on the paperwork. I had a pre-owned 1680 serviced at NY RSC a couple of years ago, and on the service paperwork it listed a previous RSC service from before I owned it.

I did (the engraving inside the caseback of my 16610 matched the service receipt from RSC)

Thanks – I asked for the paperwork but they couldn’t provide it. If it was serviced by Rolex I bet they can’t provide it because they advertize on-line and sell used at locations where they can’t sell new.
Rolex may only allow RSC warranty and paper at “authorized” locations?
I think they are only an AD at flag-ship locations like NYC – This was in a mall in MA.
I traded an Omega Aqua Terra for an Explorer – The Omega was a great watch but too big…
I got the ladies version of the Explorer :) – I love it. I wanted the new 39 (2016) but I looked at the 214270 (2015 version) and it looks almost as big as my Speedy and bigger than my old Sub to my eye. This type Oyster looks best at 36mm on my wrist – about 7 1/4

I once purchased a pre owned Air King Date 5700. I called Dallas RSC and asked if they had ever serviced the watch by providing them the serial and they they were very forthcoming by telling me they had not had that watch in previously.

Call me skeptical, but I do not believe that T would ever send their used watches to Rolex for servicing.

I'm skeptical also - But like I said - They had it and I had to have it. I may call RCS just to find out. It's 10 years old - running spot on. I'm pretty sure it's been serviced but by who I don't know. The light polish (still sharp) looks factory and the clasp has a new pin in it (stiff) so It's been gone over by someone.

I worked for T years ago in Pa and they did all repairs in house on their watches. If the salesman cannot provide proof I would take it up with the showroom manager. The next step would be upper management.

I wrote an e-mail to the German Headquarter a few years ago, after I purchased a preowned Rolex. They gave me no Information if the watch was serviced (See the Mail from Rolex in german ...... Try the Google translater please....)
After that I did a call to the rolex employee who wrote me the e-mail, no answer

Just FYI Here:

I recently purchased a 2004 GMT and walked it into the LA RSC to discuss servicing and to see if it was due. They examined the watch, gave me a price, and said it was last serviced in 2009 so it was due.

I am not sure but It would be interesting to bring a recently serviced watch in and see if they tell you it's just been serviced and does not need another one.

The seller was probably telling you a nice BS story about the RSC service.
Every dealer knows the added value of an RSC service receipt and card and for sure will not displace this.
Probably part of your decision to buy this particular watch was that it had a recent RSC service which you paid for.
I think this part of the purchase price should be refunded to you

I have a great relationship with my RSC. When I am in the centre getting a service done they will always give me the history on the watch.

Hi,

I called London RSC recently to ask for any information about a Sub 1680. I wanted to know if they had any history of the watch and whether it had a service dial. She kindly checked all records she could and told me it hadn't been through them.
I would try giving them a call or better go in person.

Good luck with it.

I have bought two pre owned Rolex's from an independent Jeweller and they provided the RSC paperwork. I have also looked at other pre owned models in shops and always ask if they have the paperwork if they claim it was serviced at Rolex. No one has ever said no. I was actually looking at a 16233 and the shop couldn't find the paperwork, so the guy called RSC and provided me a copy later on. If they don't have it or wont call RSC to get a copy then they are most likely not telling the truth.

Correct ! I was at a T location this week and specifically told their pre-owned pieces are serviced by them, not Rolex. I assume that is company wide...

From my experience with T I'm convinced this is correct. They do it themselves.
