Two Rolex's or one?

I have a V serial Milgauss GV mint condition. Question is, do I throw 3grand on top of it and get a seadweller 116600 OR...... keep the GV and spend around $3500 on a white explorer late 90's early 2000's and have TWO watches??????
Awww, decisions decisions!

I have an Explorer II that can't be sold, even when I tried in the past lol. If you want the Sea-Dweller bad enough you're not crazy for considering. But two of those watches would be sweet!

2 is, most of the time, better than 1. But....(IMHO) in this case(116600)..I'd go with just THAT one! awesome watch! Then I'd build from there.

Personally I would keep the Milgauss and purchase the Explorer outright if it's the next watch you truly want.

Two can be better than one...but, it depends on which two and which one.

To answer your question, it would depend on which watch(es) you want. If you don't care for the GV anymore, than flip away. I think you could find a better deal than the one you've listed, however.

I love being a single Rolex wearer. One of the main things that I like about Rolex watches is that they're versatile, which allows for being a single watch guy.

As usual, here's a link to the article I frequently post: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/op...-one-watch-guy

One of something you really want is better than 2 of something you kinda want.

I'm not a Milgaus fan, so I'd say do it if the money makes since. I'm also in the camp of two are better than one, except that one is better than those two IMHO.

Sea Dweller over those 2, no doubt.

I'm in the single watch 'buy and wear the one you really want' camp.

I'm noticing alot of threads about either getting rid of their Milgauss or selling some watches to get one...

I have a Rolex Sub no date and a Jaeger Le coultre Reverso Duo Time so I feel that covers all my options. I am not a collector or wish to be, I appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into producing a fine timepiece and as such take pleasure in wearing the brands that I respect

I agree; however, nice to have a second Rolex both for variety and when the other is in service!

Keep what you have and build a collection would be my advice! Two is much more fun than one!

I'm personally always a little surprised to see collectors in these forums with numerous Rolex watches, when they could pare the collection down and invest in some actual haute horology pieces, but to each his/her own. If I had two or three steel Rolex watches, swapping for an Aquanaut would be very tempting.

Which one do you really want?
If you have the funds, buy the second. If not think about the long term, and use that to decide what you want on your wrist in a year...Five years.

Are you a one watch wearer, or do you like to have a variety of styles?

I started with a Tudor Sub. Had it for years. Wanted a Pepsi GMT II, and Kept the Tudor to compliment my Pepsi. Then sold the Tudor some years later to fund another Rolex.
I still have the Pepsi, and I am not disappointed with that decision.
I now can wear a different watch when I choose, and not be stuck with only one.

I have a Milgauss GV and a 16570 EXII but in black. Great combo and fits almost all my needs as both sport and dress watches. Definitely not the typical "Rolex", and that's the way I like it. The 16570 is my favorite Rolex sports model. I'll admit the GV doesn't get nearly as much wear time as it should.

I got the GV as a gift so I didn't really have the option you have, and if the 116600 is the one you want, I say go for it.

Probably better to have 2 because you can always change watches when you want to try something a little different .. Personally, I don't think having 2 or even 12 can ever be a bad idea.

I personally would go with 2. I am assuming you like the milgauss since it is currently your one and only and the explorer II is a very versatile good choice.

But, if the seadweller is what you want go for it.
