Rolex Icons
Paul Newman has the Daytona.
JFK & Johnson are known for the President. Chuck Yaeger advertised the GMT. All of these men are above traditional marketing such as Tiger with Nike, Buick, Etc. What about other models - who is somewhat a celebrity, oozes ultra class, but remains understated. Must be somebody current so no Jacques Cousteau's! Sub/SD - ? Milgauss - ? Explorer I/II - ? **EDIT** Yachty - JJ Irani (no more suggestions needed) Tougher than you think - I am stuck.

John Mayer is too plastic for me - but it is cool he is a die-hard fan.

Hi, Folks,
The Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan (born 100 years ago this year) was frequently photographed wearing a Rolex. These pictures appeared in magazines, record sleeves (an old persons CD - pre i-pod) and film. He wore his watch face down (towards the palm of his hand). I first noticed his watch on photos dated from the late 1960s. I do not know if his hobbies of sailing and driving Porsches (among other prestige cars) attracted the brand to him or him to the brand. I do not know if anyone knows which model he wore (the way the watch was worn hid its identity). I believe that he was involved in some sailing events connected with Rolex. On a musical note (pardon the pun) I seem to remember Edward Heath (late UK prime minister) in his book about music wearing what appeared to be a gold day-date president, interesting considering the origins of the president name. |

We need real people, not that sissy Bond to advertize the sub or SD ... |

IWC makes an Aquatimer Cousteau, now in its 2nd or 3rd edition. The first one is pictured below.
The back of the latest one has an image of the Calypso

I can't remember the movie title, but Mel Gibson sported a GMT Master in a movie where he was a military pilot in the jungle.

Brad Pitt loves the Rolex.
He can get away with anything it seems. He is a sponsor for Omega in the states, but Rolex in Japan. I always see pics of him wearing Rolex. I think he work a YG GMT IIc in Oceans movies.
