BEST polish for a quick self doer

Hi all, hope I did this correctly, I am still learning the TRF ways!! I noticed a scratch on my subs bracelt clasp which irritated me to no end. I read in a forum on TRF about the use of a the scotch brite pad but was concerned about dulling the gold. So after a beer to get my courage up I lightly buffed out the minor irritation and was shocked at the great result. However there was noticable dulling. I suddenly finished my brew and it hit me. I have a chromed out HD for which I have purchased every chrome polish on earth for. So I reached for what I have determined to be the best; S100 TOTAL CYCLE FINISH RESTORER. WOW, was I proud of myself. After buffing the small clasp I was amazed at the gloss finish. I highly recomend this for a quick fix for small noticable annoyances or those anal like me. After cleaning the whole bracelet I had another brew!

The 16613 has polished center links not brushed, and unless you are super careful scotch-brite should never be used on that watch!!

That said scratches are going to happen and while it can be disconcerting learning to live with it is important. Polishing scratches involves removing metal and should be done by pros. You can buy a cloth insert for a dremel tool but again you'll probably do more damage then good, JMHO

Glad it worked out for you, but I wouldn't get carried away and do this every time you have a scratch (character mark). Pretty soon, no more metal left. I would leave it alone until your next full service. My

Re: polishes:

Mother's Billet on a jeweler's cloth for lightly polishing all metals (works well with a rotary tool as well), scotchbrite pads for brushing stainless steel, fiberglass pen for brushing titanium.

Just make sure you use the right rouge. You want red for 18K.

There's a joke here, but I'll wait for Jim or Bubba to do the honors.
