Switzerland is Almost the Cheapest Places in Europe to Buy a Rolex for Europeans
Since when did this happen?????
I was under the impression, based on what I've read on this forum, that Switzerland was among the most expensive places to buy a Rolex. If one is using list price as their guide, then Switzerland is a great place to buy a Rolex. Switzerland is actually cheaper than all other European countries on the price list except for UK, which for a GMT is a paltry 144 Euros cheaper than Switzerland. And Switzerland is only about 500 Euros more than a trusted seller for a GMT. Switzerland: GMT is 8,000 Swiss Francs, or 7447 Euros. UK: GMT is 6200 Pounds, or 7305 Euros. Trusted Seller: BNIB about 7,000 Euros You can even find a luxury hotel in Zurich for less than 150 Euros a night. So, for anyone who wants to buy in the Motherland I would say, "Have fun!" Now, any discounts obviously affect the above. And precious metal models might be available at significant discounts in Italy, for example, while the PM discounts might be lesser in Switzerland (I'm guessing, I have no knowledge of that). But for stainless steel sports models for which discounts are hard to come by (anyone want to throw out what discounts are readily available in what countries on SS sports models?), then Switzerland seems like a good place for Europeans to buy their Rolex if they have a desire to travel to the Motherland. Note the title, this is for Europeans, if you are from outside of Europe and planning to reclaim VAT, the UK and Sweden are the least expensive places to buy a Rolex. (Switzerland is a horrible place to do this for non-EUers since VAT is only 8%.) GMT in UK/Sweden minus VAT refund: 6,100 Euros, or about $6500. |

Being a European .........and purchased a watch from Switzerland direct.
When you enter the European country of your residence you have to declare to customs any purchases from outside the E.U. Switzerland is not in the E.U. The appropriate tax is then added to your purchase. Should I purchase and then enter Hungary .......the 27% tax would be added. I would have to provide the invoice including the details of the payment method I used. |

On the contrary, take in account VAT and import duties, add up to a 30%

Oh....ya...Schweiz is not in EU. I was thinking someone from Germany could just drive across the border, buy a watch, and then drive home with no tax implications. That probably never happens......... |

One should add that you won't find a luxury hotel for less than EUR 150 in Zurich. Nevertheless, watch shopping in Switzerland is in my opinion the best. Below a picture I took yesterday from the arguably biggest Rolex AD worldwide: Bucherer in Lucerne.

Switzerland is Almost the Cheapest Places in Europe to Buy a Rolex for Europeans
I live in Zürich and bought my one and only Rolex (116610) at Bucherer on Bahnhofstrasse. I called them prior going there to ask if they had it in stock, they said yes of course. So one hour late I was sitting in the AD trying out the sub. They are very friendly and it a great experience. I even got 8% discount paying cash as first time costumer.
For uk guys, I was told by the staff that they always have stainless steel sub in stock and regarding the customs neither me nor my family visiting (French registered car) where ever checked at the border. I would assume if you passed the border at the airport in UK no one would check if the watch you have on the wrist is new. Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk
