Beginner wanting to buy the first sub and daytona

I am entertaining the idea of adding the first ever sub and first ever daytona to my collection.

I know nothing about vintage watches and do not own any so please be easy on me.

Where is a good place to hunt for vintage? Chrono24?

After some research I found that reference 6204/6205 is the first sub to be produced.

What do you think about this listing? Is it a good buy?

After some research I also found that the reference 6239/6240 is the first rolex chronograph that had daytona on the dial. So this is the reference I want to buy. What do you think about this listing?

A Submariner is a great way to start in Rolex vintage. Why not start by looking into a nice 5513? Check out "For Sale" on this site... do your due diligence before purchasing.

It's a classic... collectible... available... and affordable (at least as vintage Rolex goes).

Older, rarer, more expensive vintage models require a lot of expertise before purchasing... (or big, expensive mistakes can be made)

my first vintage anything was a Rolex 5513 meters first 1968 (my birth year)

5513 is the quintential starter for collecting Rolexes.

it's the James Bond / Roger Moore watch , just watch Live and Let Die :)

it's classic, cool, timeless, and 'relatively' still affordable.

I too started with one, you can too :)

now you can look for a 6204 or 6205 but there is a LOT of research involved to make sure you are buying a 100% original piece ( or put all your trust in one of the known reliable dealers ), but I would definitely NOT start with that model for sure. It seems you have itchy fingers and want to buy away real quick, but

due a lot of research FIRST

then buy with the comfort that you KNOW what you are buying.

I'd say do lots of research before even thinking of buying. Also may want to pay a bit of a premium & purchase from a good vintage dealer for piece of mind
