BLNR Shopping
I was in NYC (midtown) yesterday and decided to stop into a few Rolex AD’s since they are right next to each other (Wempe and 2 Tourneau’s). Out of the 3 stores none had a BLNR in stock. They had all the other GMT’s. They all said they could order me one, and I would be able to receive the watch before x-mas. So, in the small sample no watches in stock, but it did not seem difficult for the AD’s to get one (lets see if they call me) which is a much different story for the Daytona C.
I already have a BLNR on order from my local AD, but wanted to hedge my bets in case something fell through, and to better understand the price possibilities. I have a good relationship with my AD, but have not discussed pricing. Do you believe a 5% +/- discount is in the range or just be happy to pay MSRP? |

A normal AD wouldn't discount a BLNR because it will sell at full price soon enough. If you have a good relationship with an AD and you are a repeat customer, up to 10% would be possible in theory.

Due to the popularity of the BLNR, it's not uncommon for them to not be immediately available. Discounts shouldn't be a problem but that's up to the AD. I'd recommend buying from a trusted seller on the forum at a discount and having it on your wrist by tomorrow

I agree - go with a trusted seller here at the forum and you will get to enjoy the BLNR much sooner at a very fair price.

When I visited Wempe and the Rolex Boutique just down the street on 5th, neither had the BLNR in stock, but both called me with it in stock in less than two weeks... From my understanding most ADs don't discount that model because its in demand and its an allocated piece. Your other option as per above, is go with a trusted seller - you'll probably find one like new under MSRP and get it quick. Congrats in advance! Its an awesome watch!

I wouldnt mind the trusted seller route, but how much can a trusted seller get you a blnr for off of retail? If its retail or close to it, I think AD is a better choice cause then you build a relationship there.

Is your AD local? If so, 5% is pretty meh. You'd save more money paying retail at the boutique in NYC and having them ship you the watch to avoid sales tax. That's what I did with my BLNR, though at the Las Vegas boutique. I probably would have saved some buying from a trusted seller here but hey, I was drunk and looking for something shiny. BLNR holds its value so losing the $300-500 from paying retail vs a trusted seller here isn't terminal.

I need to buy something off of him because he won't sell me the Daytona otherwise. I was even thinking of selling my LNIB 114060 and re buying from him (It would cost me $100 to do it because he would discount that for me.) Decisions decisions... If he would discount the BLNR 10% I would buy it tomorrow. Maybe I should tell him that lol, maybe he'll change his tune. Best he said he could do was give me a "$400 watch winder..." |

I was offered 10% off a BLNR at a small AD in SW Arkansas that I had just stepped into for the first time. AD's will do business with anyone, there's no prerequisite relationship required for them to sell a Rolex. Try an AD in a smaller market. You may be pleased with the outcome. |

If it's your first, I'd go the AD route as the savings is minimal either way. Good luck and here is some inspiration |

Those 3 ADs will likely not discount at all. Some other ADs that discount is not unreasonable.

Thanks for all the comments.
I am sure the trusted sellers could get me a BLNR watch tomorrow at MSRP. However, I my limited searching of trusted sellers I found a few watches (almost new) -- I am sure they are prefect condition with a 2% discount. They require a wire payment. Yes, I might have a wait a few weeks, but really expect at least a 5% discount for a watch that has never been touched. I will use my credit card (which is like getting around $90 in points) and ship out of state. I do have a good relationship with my AD, and have purchased Rolex watches from him in the past. Also, I am sure getting with watch will only help my chances for getting a Daytona C in the future -- I am on the list. My preference is to purchase locally to support local merchants and for the excellent customer service. So, if I can getter a better price locally why would I contact a trusted seller? Of course, my assumption is my dealer will get the watch and I will get the discount expected. Time will tell the story shortly and I hope I am right. I will be sure to let everyone know even if I am wrong. |

Is International travel in your future?
I got my BLNR at a great price from an AD overseas, who has subsequently offered me other great deals (for eg. $10,700 for a blusey) and i have since become FB friends with him (weird, right?!!)
I know i can get it a blusey for around that much from a "trusted" seller (whatever that means) - but why go third party when the AD wants to deal. As always, YMMV and Good luck! Kid |

Once again - not all AD's have armies of ever changing sales people working for them. My particular AD has the owners (father and son) and the worker bees, but all the major decisions go through the owners. Just another observation.
I still don't get why sellers on TRF are "trusted" , sort of implying that non TRF sellers are not trustworthy? Nothing against the sellers who are just trying to make a buck - but lets not elevate these sellers to a magical place in the TRF world. If I was trying to make a multi thousand dollar sale - i would be just as polite and answer all questions to best of my ability to make the sale |

I have been working directly with the AD (store manager) for last 6 years. We bring jewelry to be cleaned, get appraisals, etc. and of course he answers any questions about any of my watches including ones not purchased in his store.
If someone shows me a Trusted Seller that can get me a stickered brand new BLNR for a better price than I expect to get from my local AD I am all ears. Yes, I would like the watch tomorrow, but am not willing to pay several hundred dollars more from a Trusted Seller. I am happy to wait a few weeks or so for the savings and service. |

You said you're all ears if a trusted seller can beat your local AD's price - but in none of your messages have you said what that price is (irrespective of any discount you "expect" or otherwise). My 2 cents worth: I was in NYC last month - most ADs didn't have them in the case but could get me one quickly at MSRP. London Jewellers in the Westfield World Trade Center mall had one in the case there and then. Someone in this thread posted that the AD at the Garden State Plaza has one right now, it's a 50 dollar ride from Manhattan in an Uber. Lots of options being sent your way, but you seem to be holding out for the AD you have a relationship with, because you expect them to give you a discount. |

haberdashery - good point. Yes, I am holding out because I have received a discount on the other Rolexes I have purchased from the dealer and have no reason to believe I will not get another discount. I could be wrong.
Yes, the other options proposed are great, and I will start to execute if I feel the timing is not working or I get too impatient. Within 10 miles of my house there are 6 Rolex AD's so I am lucky and have a lot to work with in my backyard. Of course, the pictures of the watch are killing me.... |

That was one of the Trusted Sellers I looked at who I only heard great things. However, the price is only a 2% discount. I believe I will get at least double that discount all in. If I am wrong he will be on my list.
