Pre-Ceramic Poll: Sub Date or GMTii as One and Only

As the title says, would you choose a 16610 or 16710 as your one and only Rolex? Please assume these are your only two choices and, yes, only one Rolex. I'm neither a diver nor a world traveler, so the functionality doesn't steer me one way or the other. Which would you choose?

I made that very choice when I was looking to buy my first. It isn't my only but it would be if it had to be. I'd be happy too.

If you don't travel much I'd go Sub date. Just a little more robust with the triple lock crown.

I can see why you've started the thread it's a close call.

I love the submariner name, not sure if the second hand on GMT is a help or just something to clutter.

I would prefer less writing on the bezel like sub.

But they tell me the GMT is very comfy.

I Can't vote, too close.

For me the functionality of the GMT and the comfort factor make it an easy decision, for a one and only the GMT wins by a country mile!!

For every day wear, I would go with the Submariner. More classic and goes with everything you're wearing.

GMT by a mile tried a hulk on Friday and the subs just don't feel or look as good on In my opinion plus you see loads of people with subs on but not so many GMT. Plus it's got a better movement get the GMT best watch I've ever owned.

I love the sub, I prefer the no date but either way I would vote sub. I could make use of the GMT function but honestly when I'm away I just set the time to my current time zone and use my stellar mathematical skills to figure out what time it is at home. For the most part I am also able to use my memory skills to recall both the day and date. I guess I'm just gifted that way :-)

I had to make that decision and chose my all time favourite watch - a GMT 16710 w/ Coke bezel.

For a one watch collection I'd favor the GMT simply because with the addition of a couple of bezels you can have three looks with the one piece - Coke/Pepsi/Classic Black.
