Does the all Stainless Sub Show Wear Like Bluesy?

Are scratches as easily detectable on the polished center links on the all stainless sub vs. the two tone models such as Bluesy?

The SS models do not have PCLs (polished center links). The answer to your question is no as scratches show up more on the clasp than on the links in my opinion. The cause is mostly desk driving than anything else.

Guys we really need to embrace the beauty of the scratches on the PCLs. It looks great after a few months they all mesh together like art work. Lets start a TRF petition!

To answer your question...it shows a little more on two-tone because of the contrasting two tones.

The Stainless steel subs don't have PCL's Just the white gold model. The GMT's have PCL's and yes they show scratches, steel is harder than gold but that also means it takes a little more effort to remove scratches. The S/Steel subs have textured center links and make great daily wearers particularly if you are sensitive to scratches.

You can judge for yourself. Two photos, taken in the last ten minutes, especially to show scratches on the bracelet and clasp. I've owned this since 2012 and as you can see from the third photo, I do not baby this watch at all. If you wore a Sub only in the office, at home and going out, you'd probably see nothing.

The PCL's show scratches more than the brushed bracelet. But who cares?!
Can't beat a Bluesy!

Even the solid gold models show scratches on the PCLs just as clearly as the two tone models IMO...I've had em all and and never noticed much of a difference bt the two

Hey all, I'm a new Rolex owner, going on my 3rd day back at the office after getting a BLNR for Christmas. So I was looking at my links this afternoon, and while I understand that the PCLs of a BLNR will scratch, I'm pretty surprised how fast the links scratch just from sitting at my desk! I was able to enjoy my Christmas vacation with scratchless links, and I knew eventually scratches would come, but I didn't think they'd come this fast. I assume this is normal?

BTW Yes I know about the plastic on the case back. Give me some time

My 116610LV hardly showed any scratches after being a daily for 3 years.

I like to wear my watches loose and one benefit is avoidance of desk diving. The watch goes up my forearm when I'm typing etc.

I thinking about sending my 116710 off to get the PCL brushed. It's just too blingish for me. I have the 713 and I'm ok with that and my WG sub I'm ok with but the GMT needs to be toned down a bit..

Check the price difference against professional brushing, but it might be worth buying a Submariner bracelet, whether new or lightly used. Not only will you keep your bracelet original in case you ever want to sell the watch, but you'll have brushed centre links and the fantastic Glidelock clasp. If you do sell your watch you can also sell the Submariner bracelet and probably lose very little money in the process.

Make sure to slide it under your shirt cuff while you're typing to minimize the desk diving wear. That's one of the big downsides to PCLs (and why I like my 16710).

Wouldn't you have to wear a watch for a few months first?

(Sorry, couldn't resist )

The first couple scratches are always the hardest. Over time it builds character to "your" watch. Although, when I cut corners in doorways I get a slight panic attack when I smack the doorknob....

Thanks, yeah that's what I'm afraid of - that first bump of my watch face into something like a doorway or doorknob, etc! Kinda like your first scratch on your car...

Get a cape cod cloth to clean the gold pcl's every six month and it will always look new.

Yes - thats normal where you've got them. I've probably had more scratches from desks than anywhere else to be honest. Its the constant contact.

Of course not, simply because the center links on the stainless model are brushed. That said, both watches will scratch but hairline scratches in the direction of the finish on the brushed model will not show as much.

This is so comfortable that I'll never sell it..I think a sub bracelet(new)would be 3-4 times the price of brushing PCL

Haha. Brilliant post. That is me too! Walking through a doorway having opened it like 2 inches to get through! Watch hits door handle and I spend the next ten minutes inspecting for damage to the watch! 😂

My SS sub is the best watch in my collection for staying so nice looking. It absolutely takes a beating. Before taking it in for service after 13 yrs of abuse it looked better than my 6 month old BLNR.
