My New Rolex: A Watch No One Talks About

Hi Rolex Community,

I am a brand new member here on RolexForums and also a fairly new Rolex owner.

I currently own two Rolex pieces:

1) Datejust II (purchased during Summer 2015)
2) Cellini Date (purchased during Christmas 2016)

This post is to give some love to my new Cellini Date. IMO it's a gorgeous piece that gets overlooked by Rolex admirers around the world including this community. It is also good to note that the leather strap comes in a patented shiny or matte version; the picture below has the shiny strap, I decided to purchase the watch with the matte strap.

What do you guys think? Are you interested in seeing my Datejust or my family's collection of Rolexes? Let me know!

A little bit about me:

I am a recent college graduate, 22 years old,now working in the Finance industry in Texas. I have admired Rolexes at a young age seeing my dad's first Rolex which is almost as old as me.

My next Rolex goal is the Coca Cola GMT Master II that is supposedly releasing this Basel World 2017. I am hoping the speculations are true!

One fine watch. I will never really understand the lack of love for that line.
Seems to me there is hate even among Rolex fans for some models.

Indeed, Cellini is putting out some of the nicest and classiest dress dials.

I'm admittedly not a Cellini fan but man that's a sharp watch!

I'm quickly becoming more and more of a Cellini fan in my ripe old age of 36.

Great piece!

Congratulations!

I was checking out the blue one a few days ago at the AD. Very nice piece indeed. I don't think people don't love Cellini. The point is that Rolex is primarily recognized for its sport models and either "Rolex fans" don't like Cellini's because they are too formal (coming from the sport models), or because once they get to the point of wanting a classic watch they start to look somewhere else (JLC, Zenith, etc).

I'd go Patek over a Cellini, but i do like the way they look.

looks good! at 22, you're probably the youngest Cellini owner in the world.

Attached are photos of the matte strap. I'll post my DJ in a separate post.

IMO the matte strap makes it a bit more casual and versatile. What makes the Cellini special to me is it doesn't scream ROLEX (Archie's voice if you know what I mean) to me. It takes a sharp eye and high knowledge to notice this is a Rolex on my wrist.
