Rotating Rolex Watches

Hi All
Happy New Year 2017 to all!
New participant here.
I have a question I am hoping you can answer for me.
I have three Rolexes: An all yellow gold GMT; a steel and gold Submariner, and; a steel and gold Datejust. I purchased the GMT about four years ago and of course love it. Since purchasing the GMT, I wear it 90% of the time. The Submariner about 10%, and zero percent for the Datejust. For 2017, I've decided to rotate wearing all three. My question to you is what would be the best rotation? Wear one three days and then rotate to the next? Five days? Once per week?

Thanks! Looking forward to participating in this forum!

Welcome aboard. I think you'll find that everyone does something different ref. to watch rotation. Personally, I wear whatever strikes me in the morning.

Also, we need pics of your watches :)

Wearing it less puts less wear and tear on the watch. However if I nevery wore a watch I wouldn't own it. I think you should let go of the datejust.

Hmmm. If the decision to wear which one of these incredibly nice Rolexes is posing such a dilemma, you must be leading a charmed life. All three timepieces are worthy of wearing and enjoying. Only you can make the call.

Welcome. A very nice trio.

If you're looking to include all three and give them equal time, I'd probably do a two week rotation. Wear it two weeks, put it to sleep and wear the next for two weeks, and then on to the last. But that's just me.

My three are attached. Love them all. I bought my first in 1994. Would wear it about three or so years and then trade for a different model. But very happy with the current portfolio.

I think you prefer full gold, I'd sell the other two and get a YG Subc.

Welcome to the Forum..

Wear 'em when you feel like it. I assure you that the other watches will not be offended just because one of them gets worn more than another.

My rotation is this....I alternate my gmt & exp2 daily with my bbn getting night duty when I don't care about the date. I find this keeps all wound, and me happy.

And I love that GMT. Can't pull it off due to my skin tone, but man it's nice

Hi there, welcome aboard!

Your best solution is to buy 4 more so you can rotate them daily.

I rotate my two automatics between wrist and Winder.
I would have to wind them manually if I didn't use a Winder as they would wind down between wears and lose accuracy.
I only wear my dress watch about once a month but that's OK, it's there when I want it.
I would love to have seven daily wearers and wear a different one every day, but the economy is going to have to improve before I can justify any more watches.
You have three beautiful watches there.

I'm wearing two different watches in two days. Today is Rolex Daytona 116500 LN and tomorrow is Rolex Daytona 116506. Sea Dweller 116600 is on the winder, YM II 116680 is in the box. The last one was on my wrist for a month.
This week if I don't change my plans I will wear Sea Dweller for 116500 Daytona for a day. You can wear two watches for a week thus you will be able to wear different watches without hassling setting the time as power reserves for Rolex watches are more than adequate

Hi,

Happy New Year ! Hope yours is off to a good start.

I once had a very similar collection. I had a yellow gold Day-Date, a two-tone Datejust, and a yellow gold Cellini on a strap. I started off with the Datejust as my first Rolex, added the Cellini about a year or so later, and then not long after that I acquired the Day-Date. And I found I still wore all of them.

It all depended on the mood I was in that day or week, really. Sometimes only the two-tone look and feel of the DJ would do; other times (most times, it must be said) I wanted the full yellow gold of the DD; and other times I wanted the more subtle experience of the thin yellow gold Cellini on the leather strap.

If you like all your pieces, you'll still find time for all of them. You may very well find (as I did) that one in particular rises to the top more than the others - I definitely wore the Day-Date more than the other two for sure when that was the state of my collection. But so long as you genuinely still like everything in your collection, you'll find yourself wearing all of them sooner or later.

I own two and rotate them daily... it gives me something to look forward to when I crawl out of bed each morning.
