hey guys, first post, go easy please.
i found a 90's submariner that the seller replaced the black dial with a dial similar to the james Cameron deepblue. is this watch worth anything? |

I'd like to see a pic
Dials can be replaced so if not too bad and the price is great I'd be tempted...

It definitely would command a significantly reduced price as others have noted, but the dial could be replaced with a service dial by Rolex. Note that if it originally had a tritium dial, it would be replaced with superluminova.

Quote:
1. The originality/authenticity of the remaining parts (case, movement, bracelet, bezel, etc.). 2. The condition of those remaining parts, if authentic. If everything is genuine besides the dial, and it's in excellent condition, it still has considerable value. Post pics or a link if you can. |

I think the bottom line here is that any authentic Rolex Submariner has value but the aftermarket (or refinished) dial on this one makes it worth alot less than a comparable watch with a proper non-customized dial. And also, as someone else mentioned, these types of modifications call into question what other non-authentic parts might have been installed. For starters, it looks like an aftermarket crystal has been fitted. Unless it’s a real bargain, I’d pass.
