Err buddy Stan...without viewing it under close scrutiny...it would be hard to determine the authenticity of that extension link...
But Orchi's gut feeling says it could be fake...because it looks a bit too thick... |

It should be hollow where the screw hole is located. There are photos in the archives comparing the genuine to fake links.
The one here is fake.

....okay guys....
...first my ref material for this post is from my Rolex R3 Catalog, dtd 2001.
...like Springer, I had my doubts about these links, but have to NOW say they are probably legit, assuming that they have the tapered shoulder where the threads meet the body of the screws. I do NOT think they are from a Sub as the seller states, but just does NOT know their origin as to which watch. ...personally, not handling any of the 78490 or 78760 bands, I had to revert to this ref. ...these aforementioned bands, do IN FACT use the SOLID center links on their respective bands. I beleive these 2 bands, currently, are the ONLY offerings from Rolex with the SOLID center links. ...notice the first pic is of a replacement 78490 link with corresponding part#. ...notice the second pic is of a link section from a 78760 and corresponding part#. |

yes I have one of those 78760 bands and it most definitely has solid centers.
actually a very nice band.. p.s. outstanding reference material stan-your image even shows the indents on the inside of the safety link (a common flaw of the fake bands) |

Stan, nice pics. If you compare the openings, the fake link is thicker around the hole and has a smaller opening. Due to the smaller diameter of the hole on the fake, the tube would not be able to fit inside the hole like that in your photos of a genuine link.
I say the questioned link is fake, give it the heave ho!

....okeee dokeee....Springer...
....based on the seller pic's, and the "HOLE" comparisons vs. genuine, I am in agreement with you John, that the 2 links in question are MOST LIKELY FAKEROOS.
....REPORTED BOTH. Stan. |

I reported based on John's, Stan's, Steve's excellent knowledge base. Both have been reported as fake.
