Special Needs Children and an Easter Egg Hunt
Everyone,
Many of you do not know me personally, however let me share a few things. My wife Kim is a "Special Education Teacher" and teaches children with mental and physical handicaps. We are very thankful that our own kids have developed a compassion for their special friends. My wife and I are very active in finding ways to support these children and their families. On April 15th, our Church is holding an "Easter Egg Hunt" for children with special needs. They are looking for sponsors of the event and expect a huge turnout. My wife has been helping promote the event throughout the school system. I would like TRF be a sponsor of this event. I am not sure of the amount needed, but trust we can just raise as much as possible. I have never asked for a dime from anyone to operate this website. However, I would rather use this site as a way to do great things with the resources that have been given to us. This is not a Church donation, but an attempt to sponsor an event for special needs children. I believe that a banner or signage would be displayed for TRF as a sponsor. If you would be willing to help support this effort please email me at [email protected] or leave a message here. After I gauge the response, I can commit to the cause. If we run with this, you can count on pictures too. What do you all say? |

I would certainly be in Mark. Just say the word mate and mark me as in. We can start a Paypal account if you want or just send money directly to you.

This can be huge ! I am getting very excited as I love to help people.
I just got off the phone with Wayne who is heading this project up. They are expecting 1000+ people with over 500 special needs children of all ages. They need food, candy, prizes, toys, gift certificates, etc. What he said they are going to do is fill a few eggs with candy, but most will have a ticket inside. The ticket will be used to award toys, gift certificates, prizes, whatever. Here is the best part....whatever we can raise here, I can go to my Company and they will match 100%. That's amazing and has me super excited. I won't ask for much over time on this website, but I am asking each of our members to help out. I am thinking big and would like to raise a few thousand dollars. I would set up a Paypal account for funds transfer and provide a address to send checks, etc. I am also looking for a third party that would be interested in acting as auditor to ensure everything goes as promised. Maybe Daren or Ed ? I don't know. Could we spread the word to others somehow? |

Add me to your list, Mark.
I'll feel a hell of a lot better about helping special needs children than sending another check to the tax collector. Hope we can make this a good one. Last edited by dfn8tly; 28 March 2006 at 01:42 PM.. |

Mark, I'd like to contribute. It would be great if you could set up a Paypal account to collect funds. I'll watch this thread for further information.
Thanks for the work that both you and your wife are doing. :-) |

Absolutely in, Mark. Best thing would be to set up a Paypal account. I bet if we got all the active members to contribute $20 - 50, we could raise a couple thou in no time.

Everyone .... I sent an email to the individual in charge of running this show. It looked something like this:
Hi guys, I am so excited. I run a website www.rolexforums.com and all the members decided to make an attempt of raising $2500. In addition, I may be able to get the company I work for to match our funds 100%. Ofcourse I cannot make any promises, but I am doing my best. His response ...... If you did that, you don’t know how over the top that would be. It would give us some incredible opportunities to really go over the top and get wonderful prizes. Right now we are definitely limited because of flow. Anything helps, if you hit the numbers your talking about we would be through the roof! Go for it Mark.. Your amazing.. As is your family! I want everyone here to know this is a group effort and each of us are amazing. I know for a fact there is no "I" in the word TEAM. We can do this everyone, and when we do I will shout it to the world. Be part of something big on TRF. |

Yo, fellow TRFers, I dropped my wad in the bucket early this morning, and the total has hardly changed since then. Do we have to get out the paddles for a jump-start? ;-)
It's great of Mark to do this for some very deserving people. I give away a lot of money every year, but I feel especially good when I know I'm giving it to people who will be using it directly -- without all the overhead that big organizations incur. |

Yeah, come on, guys....this is a fun place. Mark has never asked us for a bloody dime by way of contributions in the past.
Please donate whatever you can....it doesn't necessarily have to be a very large amount, but every little bit does add up to a fair total. Thanks - JJ

Hey Mark, threw my bit in. I would have loved to have given more, but some uninsured idiot just took out my rear bumper and it looks like I'm out a grand.
