VC subforum

I was wondering why in this forum Vacheron Constantin is left forgotten? There is AP, PP, Omega, Panerai subforums but somehow VC is omitted. VC is a part of holy trinity and I am surprised that less attention is paid to this exceptional brand.

I agree, its a great brand, but a dedicated sub-forum would be too quiet. Same with JLC and probably ALS as well. Before Patek and Audemars got their own sub-forums most of the threads in "watches (non-Rolex)" were about these two brands, that is not the case with VC.

I already posted on this, there's no many Vacheron Constantin Owners as other brands that has subforums but I still insist on that a watch brand that has a deep and rich history behind and one of trios of haute horology deserves a separate forum

I appreciate VC, but since Richemont purchased them, it's not a brand that I follow much anymore. IMHO they killed off VC...history or not.

The "trinity" tag is a historical accolade and is not some commonly established standard in horology. Based on recent watch offerings, I will probably rank Lange above VC. All these is subjective of course.

I recently visited an VC AD as I wanted to look at their re-vamped Overseas collection, more specifically the World time. Not sure what it is but IMO the feel, finish just doesn't feel the same as PP's 5230, 5930 or the Lange 1 Time Zone...or maybe its just me.

Very simple. Not many here own them or talk about them.

How has VC changed since it was acquired by Richemont? I haven't been into watches that long (I believe they were bought in 96), so I don't know what they were like before.

For me it is a brand that I have a lot of sympathy for, partly because of their name and for other reasons. They definitely have the skills, but their designs leave me cold. I have this feeling that if they change 1-2 people they could become a top brand again.

I would love to see a subforum for VC and JLC in theory. Both have a rich history and deserve more discussion. Alas, if it's true nobody would talk about them, then there's no point.

For me it's simple, I prefer private brands. Just my .02 and where I prefer to spend my .02.

VC will never become a top brand again as long as under Richemont.

Another .02 free of charge.

Yes, Lange seems to be more popular amongst the aficionados these days. Though VC's recent offerings have been strong. I owned two VC's in the past and I wouldn't buy another one.

If Richemont ownership prevents a brand from being great, then Lange and Jaeger-LeCoultre are in trouble, as both are owned by Richemont.

That's a good point, but I see the attraction of independent watchmakers.

In terms of whether VC is still a great watchmaker, people should just look up their new Harmony monopusher chronograph. That's a sweet movement which shows some serious watchmaking chops.

For me, I would take the Cornes de Vaches over a PP dress chrono. The VC is just perfect somehow. I know, totally subjective, but that's my coin thrown into the well for you.

I like the Cornes de Vache, the harmony line - not so much.

VC still makes really nice watches. I have a couple and like them as much as my PP's. If you go to a boutique and look around I'm sure you'll find something you like.

Yes, it's indeed and in terms of case flanks and lugs this shape is my favorite model. I don't know why the most complicated watches made by the same brand come with ordinary lugs, case flanks

Exactly. I have much more respect for Lange (or even VC for that matter) than Patek with their poor QA and embarrassing service times. Who owns the shares of the company matters very little to me.

TRF is a more sport oriented forum, and VC is not great at that, they are nice, but TBH I clearly prefer AP, PP and many others before VC
