At the bottom of this excellent post there is an image illustrating the various crown types.
What exactly is the difference between these two types? Rolex Serial Numbers By Year/Clasp Codes - Crown Markings https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?sha...hp%3Ft%3D54362 Sent from my cracked, broken, hand wound Phone |

"The old gold crowns were sheet gold sandwich wrapped around a steel threaded core..
The new "monobloc" crowns are solid 18k gold and machined out in the center and a SS threaded insert pressed in." Found that on a post https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=149692 |

Should this be moved to the watch tech forum, for future reference?
