Another AD story with a happy ending.

Hi all, thought I share a story of my cousin who put himself down for a BLNR in Goldsmiths.
He was 3rd on the list at the time. But having waited for almost a year - he thought he would call him to see how he was doing. There was a new branch manager when he called and they said to him that they couldn't see him on the list. He became a bit concerned and said I have proof that I went in personally and to confirm with the woman who served him at the time that this was correct. The manager then turned around and said that woman does not work there anymore so I don't care what she says. The manager said I can add you on the list now but just to let you know - you will be 35 in the queue.
My cousin at this point left and proceeded to write a long letter of complain to Goldsmith's headoffice. He wasn't expecting a reply if truth be told but much to his suprise he got a phone call the next day from the manager of the Goldsmith's branch apologising and that he will make it right.
Lo and behold a week after that - he got a phone call to say his new BLNR was waiting for him. He was incredibly happy. When he told me the story, I was thinking by all means write a letter but I doubt it will do any good so when they did actually take action I was shocked really.
After reading so many horror stories about AD's here - thought a good one was due.

Here are some pictures he sent me:

One with the date as I told him to watch out for the magnification on BLNR and to make sure it is spot on:

Here is one compared with his 116610:

And here is one with a ceramic daytona that they had in store reserved for customer (and before you ask - yes he did try it on and said I want this watch instead and they said no lol)

Congratulations to your cousin.

Was it a local GS, maybe Watford or WGC?

It was one in Essex. Funny you mention the Watford GS - what are they like to use?

Some poor sod on the list did not get his BLNR though. He may have been ahead in he queue as I reckon they directed one from head office bound to another store....

Any how congrats, it is a great watch and mine says hi.

So they tried to screw him and instead didn't and that's a happy outcome? I think its a wash at best.

Good to hear that the written word still has power. In fact, sometimes I think when I read posts that if people would put that much effort in writing someone who could actually do something about their issue, they would be much further along.

Congrats to your cousin!

Next time your cousin or you want to buy a Rolex, try the trusted sellers on TRF and you may have no wait time and get a better price!

I didn't have the best experience with GS Trafford centre where I picked up my BLNR, I had an issue with the cyclopse mag and the manager would not acknowledge there was a problem. I went to another AD and they sent it to RSC who then changed the crystal with no problems.
I will say to be fair that I have since been back into GS Manchester and they staff have been very helpful.

Very good result, esp in UK. I have seen a lot of turnaround in staff in a few ADs I visit so this would be a good ploy to get ahead.

Telling someone from the UK to use a "trusted seller" from the US isn't the best advice. Shipping overseas + customs + taxes make that difficult.
