Requesting input from Oyster Perpetual Owners (116000)
I like the symmetry of the 36mm OP more than any other Rolex model. I really think it is a stunning piece.
However, I am in the unfortunate position of being 3 hours away from the nearest AD and they do not have this model with steel dial in stock. I would like to buy it BNIB from a trusted seller here but I am a little hesitant without first trying it on. For those of you who may own a 36mm OP, how much wrist time does it get in your collection? Does it leave you wanting or would you feel happy with it as your one and only? Also, any thought of Basel doing anything with the OP this year? I sold my 16570 Explorer II last year and I am considering replacing it with this model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's tough. Have you tried on any other 36 MM watches (maybe a datejust with a smooth bezel etc?) I would at least try on a 36 and see how it looks on you. I personally love the 36 mm size so I would say go for it, but if you don't know if you would like it for sure then yeah I can see your predicament.

I tried on the Tudor Black Bay 36 and loved the size. Not sure if the OP would wear as large as the BB though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I thought I'd like the 36mm too, but have a dj and never wear it. I'd recommend trying on the 114300 too, 39 mm and is an awesome piece. Obviously going to be tough to do in your shoes, but hopefully you can find a way and not make any costly missteps. Good luck

It's truly a stunning looking watch. I had it in my rotation and flipped for the DJ2 (I already have the 36mm Exp 1 and wanted a bigger dial for diversity.)
The main reason for flipping was visibility in low lighting (gray on gray) as my eyesight degrades w old age . Very happy w DJ 2 now but still miss it. Here's a wrist shot. Hope you get it |

I actually currently own an OP 116000, a GMT 116710 batman, a Tudor Pelagos, and previously owned a DJ 116201 concentric black dial ss rose gold. Getting rid of the DJ is a regret I will always have. With that said, I do also own other brands, and the OP is the one I use the least. I don't even set it in my six slot winder and don't even remember when I wore. I bought it because I felt remorse of selling the DJ, and thought the OP would fill that feeling, but it did not. I also bought it because it is pretty low key and not as flashy as the DJ. It feels like a cheaper version of the DJ, and find it a bit small (reason why I sold the DJ). I would say the clasp feels similar to the DJ, but for instance the Rolex crown (the symbol) on the clasp does not come out as it did in the DJ, but is more like indented, or outlined onto the clasp. Also it does not holds its value as other ROLEX watches do. Most people looking for a 2nd hand Rolex are not usually into the OP. From people I have talked to, they said it looks like a poor mans Rolex, for someone who wants to own a Rolex but does not have enough money to buy a DJ or Sub. I honestly could care less about that, but it does not fill as good as the DJ did. Yesterday I was running some errands and actually ended buying the batman. Oh man, what a difference! Now, I've decided to sell the OP. The good news for you, is if you really want one, you could get a really good price second hand. Probably from $2800 to $3200. This is just my opinion, just get the watch if you feel it connects with you. Obviously I did not connect with it. You'll see what I'm talking about the crown on the clasp, when you see the pics I uploaded.

Thanks for your input. I've not heard the OP described as feeling cheaper than the DJ. That could definitely play a part in my decision. If I decide not to get the OP, I would probably opt for the DJ II. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

@ Logantrky - don't get me wrong, when I say feel cheaper than the DJ, I mean it lacks some details that de DJ has, like the easy link. Nevertheless it great compared to other brands in the same category. Whenever I'm going to buy a watch, either retail or pre-owned, I go to advanced search settings in ebay, and select sold items. In this way I can get an idea of how much watch costs new or used. I was able to get a link for you: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Oyster...p2047675.l2557

I picked up a 114270 explorer 1 today and love the size. 36mm is a great change of pace in any collection.

I own a OP 36mm as my single Rolex for a couple of years and I have since added a Submariner Ceramic, Daytona, 36mm Explorer 1, 40mm Explorer 2. The OP 36mm is still my favourite Rolex

I own the stainless steel OP you are considering and love it. I definitely prefer 36mm, and have a 116234 but it's given it's quite blingy find the OP to be far more versatile/suitable for work and everyday occasions. I recently came across another 36mm OP that I hope to acquire shortly, and considered relinquishing with the stainless steel one in part exchange but couldn't bring myself to do it...
