Is it worth paying extra for Daytona C ?

Boutique asking for plus 5k USD than the retail prize. Is it worth ? I'm told people already in line to pay the extra premium. What you guys will do ..

What will I do or better yet what did I do? I bought it for retail and would personally not pay a premium. To each his own and depends on how badly one wants one.

that is extortion! I would take the boutique name down and report it to the HQ.

No I would rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp pencil, its only a mass produced watch. There are plenty of other overpriced watches in the world.

Is it worth paying extra for Daytona C ?

ADs doing that have been recently advised to cease the practice per a thread I read on TRF recently. Grey market sellers here regularly fetch $3000 over MSRP. It's typical when supply falls short of demand.

Now as for the question - presuming you must have a 116500 - the calculus is when the 3 curves meet. That is, the demand curve, the supply curve and Rolex's MSRP curve. If white dial 116520 history is any help, the people who waited years on "the list" to buy one from their AD experienced an almost 30%* rise in MSRP while they waited. So - $5000 over MSRP wouldn't seem financially feasible if you simply use NPV calculations; but $3000 over MSRP looks sensible. [edit: sensible unless you can invest and earn more than 10% per annum on the current $12,400 MSRP and outstrip the Rolex inflation rate]

* $2500 rise in the 3 years 2007-2010 > $7900 to $10400USD > https://www.minus4plus6.com/PriceEvolution.php

It is a watch.

The only relevant question is how much will you pay?

I didn't pay over retail and I think it's worth the wait rather than paying ridiculous money from it. I know it sounds easy

It's easier said than done, but I say wait it out. It's absolutely worth the wait, you'll appreciate the watch more (or you'll change your mind and fall in love with something else), and you won't pay a penny above retail. Resellers are price gauging and taking advantage of the consumers demand and that's not right, but the reason they continue to do it is because people continue to pay up.

Absolutely not. I'm very surprised a boutique is doing this. I would report it to Rolex HQ.

Assuming you are talking about in India, you probably need to find out what is the situation there for Daytona? Any AD (Boutique) selling at retail price?

Your money your call. If its worth it to ya do it. I personally don't like it that much to pay a premium. But I also have not seen one in the flesh.

It's a nice watch but personally, I won't pay for any watch over retail. I don't like to be fleeced.

Is it worth paying extra for Daytona C ?

I would not but I do not care much for Daytona's.
If the only way I could get a no date Sub was to pay over retail...I would pay a premium because I like the watch that much. Fortunately the models I like can still be had under msrp.
Your money your call. How much do you really want it.

If they had a line of people willing to pay $17,400 for that watch, they wouldn't have wasted their time trying to sell it to you...

In terms of value, you can probably flip it for 13 or 14 grand but I'm not sure about $17K
