The hardest Rolex model to get hold of??
A mate of mine has asked me to ask all you guys on this forum for some advice.
He has always owned Hublot watches and at the moment wears the 'Big Bang King' so he's a big Lad with big wrists... So, he is now getting his first Rolex and will buy in the next 2 weeks. (London based but travels to New York 4 times per year) Also - he wants the model that is hardest to get hold of - so not many other people are wearing the same piece. I have already mentioned the Deepsea to him as its 44m But he would like to see your replies..with pics if possible Any ideas?? |

Deep blue is not rare in my book. I was able to get one immediately.
My vote goes to the Paul Newman Daytona

If new watch, in my opinion, that would be the SS Daytona Ceramic in either white or black.

Out of the current line up it is probably the 116500 Daytona. However, this may not necessarily mean that it is rare or that fewer people wear that than other models.
Some further models in scarce (compared to others) supply are the Deep Blue DSSD, BLNR, LV. Again you cannot call any of the above rare. On the other hand, a diamond bezel GMT would be a rare to find other people wearing. Or a Leopard Daytona. |

Depends on his budget. Rarest models will be the gem set as far as production numbers and sales, hard to get is a different question.

As for a Rolex that's hard to get hold of, much depends on where you live. The people who always seem to say that the D-Blue isn't difficult to find seem are based in North America; fair enough, but try finding one at an AD in the UK or Singapore. 'Rare' is a different matter altogether; no modern Rolex is rare and there's a big difference between rare and hard to find. A Daytona C is easy to find, it's just that most people have to be willing to pay ludicrous sums of money for one. If you want rare in the true sense of the word, then you're talking certain vintage pieces like a Newman Daytona or something like a COMEX Submariner

If he plans to buy in the next 2 weeks and is in the UK he will struggle as the "desireable stuff" is hard to get from an AD. If he is prepared to pay over list, of course he will get anything.
Watches I'd say are desireable just now : GMT2 BLNR Deepsea D-Blue Daytona C Steel However good luck to him in getting any of the above within the next two weeks without paying over list price. |

I can think of only a handful of people out of hundreds who wear a Rolex...of that I can picture a few subs and a few DJ. BLNR or D-Blue? I'm almost 100% no. BLNR, D-Blue or something a bit more unusual e.g. New AIr-King, Milgauss, EXP2 and you won't see many others with the same watch. |

Exactly no Rolex model is hard to get if you are willing to pay a premium even the Daytona C hundreds of them for sale at inflated money.Trouble today Rolex no longer make watches they just make $$$$$$$$£££££££ bought then flipped for profit.

I do spot the odd person with a Rolex but I'm yet to spot someone else with a BLNR. They're like hens teeth up here. Saying that it's not as if we all walk around with t-shirts or short sleeves up here so often Watches go un-noticed, which suits me fine as I don't like to walk around showing off my watch for obvious reasons |

Well, flipped for loss doesn't make much sense? ^
To the OP, if your friend really wants a rare Rolex then tell him to buy this. |

No modern Rolex is rare or hard to find.
Needs to go vintage if he wants to be "special". But finding the perfect rare vintage piece takes time (definitely not within 2 weeks). Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk |

Daytona 116500 out of the current production run. If he's used to the size of Hublot he may want to look at the D-Blue.
Why would he want what's hardest to get as opposed to what he likes the most? |

Deep Sea Blue. Modern watch and has the wrist presence for someone with large wrists. Also not seen very frequently in person.
