Damaged Rehaut

Looking at a subc that has had RSC service last year (RSC card included), no history information, but it appears that the rehaut has some damage to it. Would RSC replace this or leave it as is due to the serial # being part of it? I am not sure what kind of damage would result in this. Thoughts would be appreciated. I do have pics posted in watchout section....

That is what I think, but I have not seen anything like this before, so I was just wondering what others may know/think. Thanks

They would have to get authorization from Rolex to issue a new case with new serial number probably.

I'd be curious as to why it's damaged...

I have them in the watchout section, don't have access to them to attach at the moment...

I am curious as well as to what the cause was. My initial thought was saphire damage. I would assume that all is well internally if RSC signed off on repair and covered it with their 2 year service warranty....

Here you go.https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=526201
If it was service by RSC, there should be a warranty for their work. What's the seller telling you?
As others said, plenty of these for sale.

Thanks for the link. None was given as it was taken in on trade and pointed out by me. Potential purchase price could warrant looking harder at this one.

Pass. Too much of a headache to deal with if the seller doesn't want to be upfront with the specific details.

Who's the seller? I see you're in Chicago. Let's hope you don't get "Kented".

I used to have a 14060 with a damaged rehaut. It was the result of a smashed crystal.

Regaut is part of the case. Can not be replaced. Move on.

Your pictures show the damage very clearly. It is not something that anyone familiar with watches would have missed or overlooked.

We keep singing the praises of our dear "trusted sellers" when they deliver the watch we purchased the next day, answer our many questions before the sale or offer us a good price compared to an AD. Yet when one of them pulls a stunt like this we don't identify them by name. Unless we do we will never really know who is truly a trusted seller and who is just a run of the mill gray marketeer.

We have a clear cut double standard on this Forum. When an AD offers awful customer service pre-sale or after sale we pretty much always identify them by name...........

Just saying.

No, seller is not local. I am most likely passing on it, but my curiosity is still wondering how something like this happens (and why RSC would repair as the case should have more damage, as well as movement, which may explain the hard polish work)....My guess is hard impact and sapphire shattered. I am not sure how soft the interior metal of the rehaut is (is it 904L?) Could a sapphire cause that damage?

I understand the seller is not local. It's still important to identify the seller to make sure no one else ends up with this watch. A less experienced buyer may not know what to look for or ask. Is it for sale here or another forum?

Maybe the person taking the watch to the RSC had no interest in the "repair" cost / replacement case

A replacement case would include a new serial number, traditionally replacement case serials begin with a "4"

You would not get your old serial reissued.

I have replaced a case (aka case frame) on a sub, the cost is in the area of about $2000

I would not buy that watch.

He dropped the watch on it's face and the crystal shattered and damage was done to the rehaut.
