Big trouble brewing now!
So, I am in Miami for two weeks with my wife and kids and of course watch watching and shopping is a must. Yesterday at my hotel Fontainebleau there is a watch store which I have purchased from before, they had a bunch of AP, mainly the one I have been thinking about is the 44 rose gold, 26401 which I have been on my mind. Love it....but then I went to the AP boutique at Bal Harbor tonite and they have all the new releases including the new 44 rose gold....I can't decide! The difference is that the older version can be had for about 10k cheaper.
What to do!!!!?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Older version RG44 for me anytime esp you can have it for 10k cheaper. But then I will be "accused" of being biased since I already got the old one.
It's basically the same watch with a different dial design.

If you decide to flip in a year or two kiss that 10k goodbye. Not saying you will just keep that in mind!
I personally would get the prior dial for 35 and call it a day I also flat out prefer the prior dial. But as tacky as it sounds, yolo. |

I'm considering getting one myself I first have to ask what is your preference? Since, I'm not fortunate enough to see the newer one in the flesh. So if you ask for my opinion I 'd say I prefer the older version it's cleaner, have more contrast, and seems more versatile.

I'm biased too. Much prefer the old version. The new one just doesn't do it for me and a $10k diff? No brainer.

Obviously in this price range, money isn't going to be the issue. What speaks more to you? The old dial or the new one? That is the real question.

That looks really good on your wrist...but...I think I would go previous dial.
Let the price settle in a bit on the new one while you enjoy the classic dial and if it still sings to you later - get to flipp'in |

Go with your gut...if you like that new one, which by the way looks pretty good on you, go get it. You could be wearing it to dinner tonight.

The boutique I visited said no way to discounts on new model, possibly a couple of other straps.

I like the new dial but no way +10k.
I would either wait a bit and get a good discount, or wait a bit more until it stabilizes to usual pricing as it is always the case. Obviously if you can get a nice discount at an AD now ... Getting the old and flipping down the line as suggested will cost you a lot less than 10k.

I love the OG one ofc, but I'd like to see more of the new 44, esp out in the sunlight to show the watch off properly, but unless you get a good discount it would be a tough pill to swallow.

Is the new version even lighter than the 401, or is it the same weight as the 401, and lighter than the 400?

Nicholas, unless you can get a better deal on the new version, I'd save the 10k and grab the previous model.
