What do you use to time your watch?
Hey all,
I'm a new Rolex owner (as of last week) and I pretty much haven't taken it off since. I did a quick timing job by trying to match the time on my computer, but ultimately I know that isn't the most precise method. I'd also like to get an idea of how fast or slow the watch is running to see if I need to test different resting positions at night. What do you guys use to time your watches?

The clock at the top of the page. I'm not OCD about seconds/per day +/- as long as my watches are close to the relative time, I'm happy.

Awesome, thanks!
Do you use an app or website to test accuracy as well?

I use watchtracker. It's an app for the iphone and it works great. You can create profiles for your watches and it saves all of your timing runs and showing you the variances and rate. You can add notes to what position you left it etc.. I think it was lie $3.99 but I think it works great.

Perfect. I'm going to redo the timing in general using either time.gov or time.is.
I think I'm going to get the Watch tracker app as well. The timing doesn't need to be absolutely perfect, but given that this is my first serious mechanical watch I'm curious to track it. I also have a Seiko I plan on using as a weekend watch that I'd like to test as well. Thanks for all the help guys!

"What do you guys use to time your watches?"
That question would sound really silly and nonsensical to a non-WIS. Answer: Nothing. I use my watch to time other things! |

Time.gov is official NIST time for the USA. The website is even corrected for network delay.

I wouldn't rely on apps.
As I understand it, apps use the clock in your smartphone, which is not accurate. I use https://time.is/ It displays the time, and also states how far off your clock is, as well as any 'sync error'. |
