Black Bay Chronograph - This is a joke right...?

A 45min sub dial?!
Snow flake hour hand that pretty much blocks the sub dial-?!
I guess it really doesn't matter because you there is no contrast between the hands and the sub dial face so you can't read it anyway.

Please let me know what is the appeal ?

Its like the student that scrambled the night before his project was due just to have something to hand in.

I mean dont get me wrong. I appreciated alot of different watches even though they may not be my style. I still get the overall concept and design,

But this makes NO sense from a functional stand point. Which is surprising coming from a company like Tudor which seems to take a more pragmatic approach in their design.

For those that do like it, I am curious as to why? Obviously the chronograph complication is not something one would use on this watch. Just for show i guess?

Hodinkee describes Tudor's 45-min counter as "historically significant." It doesn't make much sense to me. The snowflake hands don't make sense to me either.

The chronograph still called the "Black Bay" doesn't make sense to me. This watch doesn't make sense to me.

They seem to be going the way of Omega.

It is the horrible lovechild of a tool watch and a cheap fashion watch.
I'd bet money that this was designed by a committee. This committee likely was ordered to design this offering with certain required features. Said features were determined by various marketing studies and surveys - only the most popular features were used. I'm sure black was the most popular/biggest seller for sundial face. Unfortunately, another popular color for sundial hands was also black, but the whiz bangs in marketing research didn't think that those choices would be mutually exclusive.
Using that process, I can see how the concept came about. The sad thing is that someone approved the design. Hell, multiple people probably approved it.

Yea, not a fan. I like a lot of the elements, especially Tudor's use of steel bezels this year, but I don't see the point in incorporating it into the Black Bay line. Seems like they could have made a new line, removed the snowflake hands and had a better watch.

I won't even comment on the 45 min register though...

If you want that extra 15 mins you have to upgrade to the Daytona

At this cheap price point I can't be too critical

Agree. Horrible. So sad from a brand that I Ioved so much.

Feels it was made in a hurry combining spare parts from other watches.

And please stop with tha BlackBay branding of every single watch.

At least they didn't put a cyclops over the date. Or maybe they should've and someone would then have found enough sense not to make this.

Nope. The subdials are so matte you cannot even see them. The watch does not invite you to play with the chronos and pushers like a Daytona or Speedmaster does.

I like it very much. That is so "under the radar" I'd have to carry the sales-receipt with me. I've heard the "historically significant" thing about a 45-min counter before, but I don't remember the details, I only remember the (3-minute?) emphasis on some of the 50s chronographs for timing international calls, which were billed in 3 min increments. Then again, we've seen on this forum how many of these stories turn out to be explanation after the fact. Like bowling being called the oldest sport because it comes from the time when people only had three fingers on each hand.

Did Tudor die today too

It's a $5k in-house (kind of) chronograph. No reason to get your Rolex papers in a bunch
