New BP FF milspec

I found something I love at Basel!!! 40 mm case FF! Not everyone will love the moisture indicator but I love orange and it's a nod to their past. Limited to 500 pieces. No word on pricing. Comes on either bracelet, sailcloth or NATO.

Price is $14,100, 20mm lug width. The NATO option is black. June/July delivery to US ADs.

Love it.

Certainly a winner, but at such a premium over a sub I'm having a hard time justifying it.

It's the right size finally but the Pokémon dial and date placement still ruin it for me...
Oh well, there is always next year

Supposedly the moisture indicator is fully functional. I wonder if it's attached to the dial or separate and how much it's going to cost to service.

Beautiful. But why 40mm? And why orange color?

Good question! Hmm

Idk why 40 but it's perfect for me as I find the current 45 a touch large even with a 7" wrist. Original was 42 I believe

A moisture indicator? Isn't that a sign of low self esteem for a dive watch?

Haha I see your point.

Remember back in the 50s a watch capable of going down with divers was new technology. If the seals failed the divers could be without a valuable tool that could cost them their life. The water tight indicator became a spec for US Navy.

Today it's just a novelty but I think a cool one it's the moon phase for divers

This is a great looking watch. I love the moisture indicator and the 40mm size. It is historically accurate.

I have the 45 mm regular production watch and it has been accurate and reliable.

Thank you for the input! I have never owned a BP so was researching the movement in this one, which is different from the standard FF one ( as it's a smaller case), and it seems to be a long running F Piguet workhorse 1151.

I'm looking for reasons not to pull the trigger and haven't come up with any yet.

I searched for the 42mm anniversary edition FF for some time before deciding I did not want to buy an out of warranty BP as I have no experience with the brand.

Hmm

Also worth considering there are good deals to be had so it's really only a 2k premium over a sub

haha, Pokemon dial. I remember I was looking at Cartier rings, and thought of the same thing.

At least now there is a watch that can match Cartier jewelry.

I really want to see this in person, and the 38mm Bathyscaphe. Love they're moving towards reasonable sized divers.

If I did not already have the model I have, I would be going for this one. It is one watch I look forward to wearing when the weather turns warmer, they are eye catching to say the least.

I'm really glad to see Blancpain do the FF in 40mm - seems like I've (we've) been waiting too long for this to happen. All around cool watch.

I've always liked the look of the fifty fathoms but found them to be too large for me...this solves that problem

A cool watch but the pricing would make all the difference.

Yes! I guess Rolex turned my SDc into a watch for others and BP turned the FF into a watch for us

tempting isn't it?

14k retail. As you would imagine, best to secure a strong discount and/or buy to keep.

I don't disagree.. but at a 20% discount (will they even be doing that for the "limited" mil spec?) is it worth 2x what I paid for my 114060?

No question the 114060 is a great watch and hard to argue against. I have a line on one with a better deal than that

Great looking watch! I'm happy that they sized it down a bit as well

Yeah Bas this one really does it for me in photos. Let's hope it's equally cool in real life. Order is placed, now the waiting game begins
